Arsenal (H) 30/10 League Cup 20:30

I laughed when I saw Emrey was looking away and clearly could barely watch the penalties. He basically looks like I do during a shoot out.

It can't be an inspiring sight for the Arsenal player who is taking the penalty to look over and see his manager  practically hiding his face in his coat.

One for the shitness of modern football. I'll just stick the internet at some time to see that man City get the weakest team left and we get the winners of Chelsea v the mancs.

Surprised it’s not on Guatemalan pirate radio to be honest.

"Kee" rather than "Quee"?

Caiomhe has always been pronounced "Keeva" as far as I've known

Can be pronounced both ways mate

Not sure why any players would be singled out tonight for poor performances. That was a mad, disjointed, school lunchtime kids style match with loads of entertainment. It's a competition that's way down the list of priorities and should be seen as such. But we just have that mentality not to lose at the moment and long may it continue.

Remember Rafa sat like Buddha on the turf (so the fans behind could see)?

That's how a manager should watch pens.

Mancs winning with a couple of minutes to go

They played quite a strong team, no doubt the media will go OTT about them. Hopefully that is the Rice krispie cunt in the job until next summer.

It just shows you that those inside passes, and other mistakes that led to goals, you just can't get away with at this level. It'll stand to the young lads massively.

Nobody should be harshly critical of them

    • Good points. We will be back.
Football isn’t the be all and end all for most people, so it depends on any individual’s paradigm.   Not to sound “boo hoo”, but there are other things that make this a low period for me and the team’s temporary dip, due to a lot of mitigating factors, probably has me classing this as my low, as my perspective overall isn’t most positive at present.   I do look forward with hope and quite some belief that when we get our long term injured folks back, we will be hungry to prove a point and that next season will be a totally different story.
    • Size of club is subjective anyway. People just say such and such club is "big", but you have to say what that actually means. Rangers, I suppose are a big club by a lot of definitions, but they are a big fish in a small pond. Managing Rangers doesn't actually mean much nowadays in the grand scheme of things in European football.   He should stay there if they get to play in the Champions League next season but beyond that, man, go somewhere else where you're more relevant and keep taking the next step. What he's doing is promising, but there's one more tier of club he should manage before he takes a crack at the likes of us.
    • Dunno. Hyypia and Carragher in centre of defence, Gerrard, Alonso and Hamann in midfield.    Our first choice 11? Yes. Our current injury hit 11? Not sure. Gerrard would have a field day powering through our current middle.
    • I think part of the problem is that VAR is being administered by current officials. one problem is that they're knackered because they have to be involved in more matches, whether at the ground or as VAR, with more travelling etc. Another factor is that you have  a situation as at Fulham where a relatively inexperienced official is the VAR to a much more experienced official. Is Peter Bankes really going to feel confident telling Martin Atkinson he's made a mistake or forceful enough in telling him so. Atkinson will presumably (hopefully!) be retiring soon and then mifght be in a position to exercise some supervision over Bankes' career. I believe in America the VAR officials are not current referees and this might be worth investigating here.
