I see Farage caused outrage last week by suggesting that women could 'sit in a corner' when breastfeeding in public. I would point out that I can't stand the prick or his horrible front of a political party but I can't help agree with him here, Surely it's not too difficult to move somewhere descreet to breastfeed your child? Most arguments seem to based on the 'it's the most natural thing in the World' sort of view but so is having sex or taking a shit & you don't see people doing either of them in a hotel lobby.

In a public room, there's a lot of places to look other than a woman breastfeeding, it's very easy to avoid if you want to.

 

I think it's some subconscious issue men have... they want to look, in the same way rubberneckers want to look at a crash, it's curiosity in some sense. But we also know we aren't supposed to look, and certainly shouldn't stare.

 

It's the same issue with some severely disabled person. Have the people stare, and the other half are acting oddly in going out of their way not to stare - hence this 'discomfort' feeling.

 

It's no big deal. Most people just wanted a cup of coffee and a sandwich, and didn't want to even have to 'think' about the issue. The moment the woman gets her tit out, bang goes a lot of people's 'hassle free' tranquility. Hardly the woman's fault though.

I was discussing this with my sister in law at the weekend, she's had a child herself & feels that breastfeeding in public is akward & unnecessary so it's not just men who have an issue, although I'd imagine she's in a minority.

Not sure about this bit, FC.  In my 37 years as a happily out pervert, including 6 as a teenager hitting the blood wank 3 or 4 times a week and several months of being paid actual money to look at and judge tits in a 'professional' capacity, I've never found the practice of blatantly gawping at them while smacking my chops (baby attached or not) in any way comparable with those furtive, mock-concerned glances people who slow down at car crashes to get their jollies give an orgy of mangled steel and singed flesh.
