My favourite non-Liverpool related player. I'd jizz my pants if we somehow brought him to Anfield.

He signed a two year contract extension yesterday keeping him at Atleti until 2014. However, his buyout clause has been reduced by around £13million (to approximately £38million) which possibly means that there is more chance of a bigger/richer club being able to buy him now than before he signed his contract extension.

I've said time and time again he'd be the ideal striking partner with Torres.

He's too expensive though.

If they would had talks with him before he signed it would had been a free transfer and they could had negotiated his salary.. But yeah I guess he would be too expensive but a great investment in my opinion.

If he was that good, he'd be at a bigger club than Atletico by now.

No, because Atletico has overpriced him to make him stay. With the new contract it is a bit different. And keep in mind the lad is only 22 so it's not like he's in a hurry to leave them. I agree that he would be an ideal partner for Torres. They didn't hit it off too well in 06/07, but he was even younger back then of course and it was his first season.

Think Atletico want to sell him in the summer. I don't know who will be able to afford him given the UEFA fair play rules. All big Italian clubs are in trouble. He won't move to Real Madrid so Barcelona is an option. Bayern, Arsenal and United can afford him I guess. Chelsea and City have to balance their books too...
