Chelsea (A) - Sun 13th Aug 2023 (4:30pm)

We all know we need two or three new lads. Defensive mid is vital . I’d say an experienced player in there and a left sided centre half. Robby is a squad player these days.
This is one of the weakest Chelsea sides in years and we’re lucky to escape with the point. Let’s hammer Bournemouth.

The lack of a defensive midfielder, and the persistence in playing Robertson is going to be our downfall.  I've never seen a fullback turn his back on the ball so many times.  The new lads played well, particularly MacAllister.  Good to see Salah getting upset, but the problem was he wasn't seeing enough of the ball.  Gakpo was pretty anonymous, being asked to play a role he's clearly not yet suited for.

Diaz is not working for us.  Despite the goal, doesn't offer enough going forward and offers nothing out of possession.  Robertson was poor, but he wasn't helped out.

Says something that the young short lads coming on before the end brought more dynamism than the others.

Chelsea have definitely improved and we looked second best for much of that game. Can't think of any real positives other than we didn't get beat , Alison is world class and we didn't pick up any serious injuries. Half the problem imo was that the players looked half fit and were gassed during that second half . A bullet dodged really ,

We desperately need reinforcements after seeing that. What the fuck have we been doing all summer? FSG are still cunts.

Agreed but that was a decent starting 11. Something has been amiss for over a year now- it’s not just getting in players- we look lethargic and devoid of how to solve it

A point we didnt really deserve, performance was quite poor.

We lack both defensive structure and mentality from a few of our players.

Alisson our man of the match, dont think many will argue with that. Apart from him Konate and Diaz played well, and Van Dijk and Szobizslai decent as well. Robertson, Gakpo, Trent and Salah our weakest players imo.

We deserved three points. Cheating twats.

Even the run of play that led to their goal started with a dive. We have clear, real issues that need to be fixed, but we were screwed out of it today.

I think all things considered a good point. Chelsea are not shit and will be alot stronger in a few weeks time. We've still not finished building the side (which were all aware is a joke) and had a new midfield missing key elements. Parts were good, parts were bad. Salahs second is onside and we batter them I reckon. Should have had a pen

Would've liked to have seen that challenge on Elliott again. He definitely appealed, but they kind of ignored it.

That's one of the most frustrating things with VAR. Sometimes they review incidents in minute detail from various camera angles, other times they don't even seem to bother looking at it. I've no idea if it was a foul or not but it was definitely worth a second look. The game even stopped for an offside so they had the perfect opportunity to tell the ref to hang on for a minute.

That’s a half decent point based on our poor performance for two thirds of the game.

Plus, it could be an important point come the end of the season if it helps sneak us in to the Europa League places…

His uncharacteristic awful pass to Nunez aside, Mac Allister looks like a good signing. Diaz will probably improve too as he gets fitter.

But, the old issues still seem to be there. We still look like mentality midgets and teams seem to be able to run through us and create chances galore.

On another note, an absolutely abject performance from referee Anthony Taylor from Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. Fuck all this new respect for the officials stuff. Klopp should say something in his post match interview. It’s not funny anymore.

I wouldn't disagree with that but we'd still look a lot better with an effective DM, RB etc.

We need a regular RB play a flat back 4 TAA in midfield with MacAllister and Szloboslai, Diaz left Salah right and Gakpo up top or use TAAand MacAllister as a double pivot, szloboslai behind gakpo

That will be a disaster.

We need a holding midfielder, and I'm not convinced Lavia is anywhere near good enough.

Looked better when Salah went off - he was shite second half along with Trent.

We’ve signed a super player in MacAllister just need to have him playing higher up.
Having no control at all in midfield is giving me kittens that corner at the end when Chelsea nearly won it - WFT!

Fuck that, a RB and play a bloody back 4 this shit isn't working at all

Everytime a teams under pressure they just put it into our right hand channel and they turn our whole team while Konate ends up trying to do the job of 2 men

Agree we need a RB too but we are never signing 4 players. We will be lucky if we get 2. I genuinely think we went big for Caicedo because we are going to sacrifice LCB.

Need some signings no doubt but Klopp really needs to rethink the system and find one that works

He was clear in lead up to this game that today was a make and do job - of course we need to buy the players he needs and soon to enable him to do what he really wants to do.

We surely will.

Virgil motm there. Shout outs to McAllister, Robbo & Szobo. Rest meh till the kids came on at the end.

Our attacking play has to change asap. Less than 10 touches in their box in that 2nd half.

Our attackers haven’t got a brain between them. We never create clear cut chances and everything’s played in front of a packed box when we do decide to go forward. You watch other teams and they regularly create chances in the oppo 6 yard box yet we do nothing.

We’d have lost that game if they’d have scored again.

£70m striker still can't control a ball at waist height.

Have we ever tried 1-touch passing drills?

Ha ha yes, it's all smiles for Klopp and Poch as they backslap their millionaire colts.  It's just brilliant to be alive in London on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Us and Chelsea are just oblivious to the nonsense at City and their efficient football.  Haaland?  Just boring. Same with Bayern, what's their problem?  Signing Kane is just boring, nah you want a Gakpo, he's silky smooth in the 5-a-sides on the training ground, does tons of keepy-uppies.

Define genius.  Its not this.

Positives

* Doak looked really good

* Elliot looked amazing

* Mac Allister is a classy player but needs to be playing further forwards

* Thought Konate played quite well under the circumstances

The booking for Trent was fair enough. I've rarely seen a player get the yips taking throw-ins as him. He's even had several years with a throw-in coach and he still just stands there in a daze.

The booking for MacAllister (no, there isn't a fecking gap in his name) was ridiculous - it was a clear foul. I already had the sound down when various Chelsea players seemed to randomly handball in the area so no idea what the hell was going on there.
