There are exceptions but after hitting it 280-290 yards on average why isnt he a scratch handicap or even a pro? My lad can hit it similar distances but can only play a few times a year so its no point believing you can be John Rahm or Bryson DeChambeau as there is so much more involved, and levels which 99.9% of us will never reach. Better to learn from the girls due to that.

Theres a massive gap from top amateur to pro. The mental pressure hurts. We had a an excellent amateur at our club who turned pro in lmid 90's Alan Mclean. He had some minor success in Canada but he was saying its a massive step up to pro. The practice time alone means you need a sponor before you even make that step up.

Which is exactly my point. You cannot practice even half as much as you need to before you are anywhere near the male professionals. This is why the ladies are worth studying because they are like the better male recreational and handicap players, but with the technique and brains to make up for their lack of physical strength. They are more relatable.

Patrick Reed's twitter account liking a shitload of tweets kicking off about him not being picked and calling Stricker a coward. Then unliking everything when people noticed and started talking about it.

Hope Koepka doesn't make it and Stricker has to decide whether to pick Reed or not.

Koepkas an automatic pick isn't he? As in, he's qualified? Need to have him in there anyway to see if him and Bryson have a barney

The only possible thing a recreational male golfer has in common with pro women are the amount of clubs in the bag.

Hitting your driver the same distance off the tee is not an example of that.

The point was they're more relatable and better to learn from than PGA players, not that the skill level is the same.

If you are focused solely on club distances sure, makes sense - 100 yards and in that goes out the window - so @ 65% of the game there is not much of a difference "learning" from either.

The game is fuckin hard - if you want to improve - get out, practice and leave your driver in the bag the majority of time you are practicing.

Of course there is. You can learn plenty from the control and tempo with which LPGA players swing. And they swing at speeds that the average player can relate to, which is why it can be compared.

And the driver is probably the second most important club in the bag after the putter.

Yet that is exactly where most recreational male golfers want to improve. But yeah, crack on and let the average handicap stay pretty much exactly the same despite all the improvements in technology over the last couple of decades.

Because most recreational golfers still can't get the ball in the hole from 100 yards in effectively.

Hitting your drive 10 or even 20 yards farther does not fix that.

Yeah, exactly and watching men hammer it 300 plus yards is not going to help you,but watching women hit it 250-280 and then make pars and birdies is very useful for the average male golfer.
