What's the deal with Tom Ince?

There are two factors at play here - first is; Oyston is a difficult man to deal with and plays hardball in his negotiations (which he has every right to)

We on the otherhand, have Ian Ayre........... who'd end up paying £5 for a Mars bar.:wallbutt:

Ian Ayre is probably yet to realise that he used to be our player. The talk of sell on fee's is probably confusing him no end.

Ayre sanctioned his sale.

Why are we now paying a premium to bring him back? Could he not have saved us the £15m we paid for Allen?

Turn it in Xerxes you cant possibly blame Ayre for Ince leaving.

If he wanted to leave its down to him and the manager at the time for saying yes he is not part of my plans. He has turned into a decent player so its the managers fault for not playing him and seeing his talent.

I've only been catching highlights here and there but he seems to be playing out of his skin for Blackpool. He has a pretty impressive haul of goals and assists.

Granted its the championship but I have a feeling hes going to have enough in his locker to help us create something against the fuckers that come and park the bus which to be frank, nobody else in our team apart from Suarez has a fucking clue how to do.

That would be Spearing who's only started two-thirds of mid-table Championship side Bolton's games, scoring a whole one goal?

The one who is now seriously challenging Nabil El-Zhar's position as 'Liverpool's oldest most promising young player'?

You're starting to get as boring as Code with this Allen obsession...

Allen isn't far off his level, pointless signing IMO who will be sold within 18 months when it's obvious to the dog on the street him and Lucas offer little from midfield, one will be probably captaining brazil in the World Cup the other will be tired after his mrs has another kid, lets hope we make the right choice who to keep

Apparently the Ince deal is as good as done, £4m.

Mind you, I recall similar 'done' deal announcements for Dempsey, so...meh

My concern is that we are signing Ince for £4m in anticipation of selling Sterling for £10m+

Fits the FSG model...

I hope we pay Ince £50k a week and we get Raheem to proof-read the contract for us.

Some on RAWK saying that they thought Sterling was brilliant in the second half vs Villa?

In conclusion, we have a rich tradition of signing talent from Blackpool.

And, in uber-conclusion, FSG are developing talent for releasing on free's, and then re-signing for £4m.

This is a mock-up of what Ince will look like in a Liverpool kit.

A box to box scoring midfielder?

Didn't realise we had an abundance of those in our current squad.

Should never have been let go, but shit happens.

I think he'll only get better.

With zero PL experience , theres fuck all to guarantee hes going to help us much , Shelvey banged in the goals for Blackpool and he cant score in the PL.

Looks like a squad filler , obviously hope he turns out to be class but not holding my breath , hard to get excited about this signing or any signing considering we have this great habit of signing complete dog shit.

Am I missing something, here? He's not going to play in Allen's position and he's not a box to box midfielder. He plays inside left, I.e the position that Shelvey, Downing and Enrique seem to have been sharing amongst themselves recently.

I think he mainly played left for us but for Blackpool plays on the right cutting in?

We can easily say we shouldn't have let him go, but then again, perhaps letting him go was just the thing to help him grow as a player. Inserting the sell on clause was the insurance policy for us. I think we made the right decision.

How good the player will be for us when he comes back remains to be seen. We need some pace, directness and goals added to the mix, so he might have a role to play. If he is 4M we should not expect too much too soon.

He's going to be average and we will wonder why we still have the same old problems.

I don't think he'll be a world-beater, but I don't have a problem with paying £4 million for an "average" player. I have a problem with paying £12 million or £20 million for them. Every side needs a few players who have decent, if not world-class talent to come in and do a job now and again.

For me it's like when N'Gog was bought. He wasn't very good, but when it's a 19 year-old who cost £1.5 million that's not the end of the world. If Ince can come in, get 3 or 5 goals a season in 15 appearances/year for a year or two and we sell him for what we paid or more, I think that's overall a good result.

Ince has a bright future, I think he'll do well in the long term here.

The problem is he will probably get judged what he can offer now, as we all want someone to enhance the side immediately.

Ideally we'd get two players who can do that (like Walcott and Sturridge for example) and then have Ince for the future and to boost the squad. Probably too much to ask for that though.
