Dirk Kuyt

I am probably one of his biggest critics but I said today that he put in a great performance. Little Benny aside, he was our best player and he was only on for about 20mins.

Playing 6 defenders + Masc was a disgrace today.

3 of whom spent the vast majority of their time up the field. Not that it matters.

This thread is mindblowing. "Vital to our team", "I wish more showed his desire", "faith repaid."

The fuck?? A striker scored a goal for the first time since the dawning of the credit crunch!

By all means say the lad played well, but let's not start a wankfest. Kuyt can't 'push on' from this and achieve some kind of greatness - because he hasn't got the ability to. The Kuyt issue has never been one of confidence or desire, it's about skill - or lack of.

Babel has more ability than Dirk Kuyt.

It's just a shame he's an absolute lazy shit.

Tbh I'm pretty sure Hyypia has more ability or even Carra. His lack of technique is worrying but he always delivers when the stacks are against him.

I really hope he becomes a squad filler next season and we find a proper right sided player.

Should be our Park Ji Sung squad player who plays when holding out for a win or a draw in CL games

I thought he did well yesterday. He scored a vital goal, and helped the team to an important win.

I do not, however, want to listen to anyone say 'I told you so' or 'that's what you get when Kuyt plays in his best position' . He has been terrible most of this season, no matter where he has played. He's still not good enough for LFC, but he put in a good performance when he came on yesterday.

Sums it up for me.

Maybe if he is allowed to play as as striker like he did in Holland, and not an energiser bunny, he'd be better? He had more zest about him tonight, and thats because he was playing upfront without having to worry about running round like a dickhead in defense and midfield.

Dirk Kuyt. Bought as a striker, and scored 16 goals for us in his debut season. Used to score goals for Holland too when he was a striker...isn't it wierd how a good striker, with a good strike rate for club and country can come unstuck out of position?? who'd have thought that !!

It's not rocket science. Why oh WHY does rafa continue to play arguably now, our 2nd striker on the right wing, when time and time again, if he is played up front he plays better, and scores more goals?
