One thing that has astounded me is the way that some of the bereaved families have shown so much class and dignity and asking for innocent civilians to not be punished for what happened - like below.

 

These are people who have been personally affected by what happened. And they act like this, whereas right wing, non Jewish Twitter knobheads - who didn’t lose anyone and who weren’t personally affected by what happened - are the ones exhibiting blood lust and hijacking the grief of the victim’s families to make out like they speak for them and Jewish people in general, when the only thing they’re really interested in is their own self promotion.

Proportionate means what can you do to limit suffering to innocent people not how you can 'get even' by inflicting suffering on them to even it up.

Conspiracy theories aside, Israel certainly wants to blunt Hamas' current military capability. It will never be able to eliminate it.

 

Hamas will never be able to negotiate a solution now, if in fact they were ever interested in doing so. If there is going to be a solution in this region then Hamas needs to be removed - they will always undermine peace talks with terrorism.

 

But how on earth do you get rid of them? And how do you stop the flow of money and weapons from Iran?

The majority of current Israelis have their ancestors migrate from Russia/Ukraine/Hungary/Lithuania/Poland etc. Countries who witnessed some of the most barbaric behaviour during WW2. Hamas has never been interested in a two state solution which is why the Israeli government have been promoting them for decades.
