Not true. We lost games but the team turned up for the majority of them. Application and sloppiness wasnt a factor.

Rose-tinted bullshit.

There's a specific story about one time in the early 80s when Paisley's team were on a poor run and were trailing at half time: Joe Fagan had to go around the room and tear a strip off Hansen, Sounness, Rush and all the rest, because they'd been phoning it in; we'd been losing games because of "application and sloppiness".

Last time we lost two all season and City lost three was 2021-22. Guess who won the league.

We lost one game in the 2018-19 season. City lost four. Guess who won the league.

City will lose at least four this season; we'll beat them at Anfield.

(Except, of course, we won't, because I read on here that all our players are shit and never even break sweat.)

Weren't we around 12th at the turn of the year and went on a he'll of a run to eventually win the title , I seem to remember hearing obviously later probably Ronnie Moran telling them that the party was over some time in December before turning it around

The mancs are now basically us from large parts of the last 30 years - without the class.

They have some promising players who look ok in periods but ultimately flatter to deceive.

They win a few games and they are 'back' but fail the real tests when it really matters.

They'll have bits and pieces of success but never properly build on it and sustain it.

They are perennially on the verge of being properly back....but never far away from being in crisis....

Villa have definitely remembered they're Villa. Single handidly going to hand the mancs 5th and a scabby champions league spot probably

Threw away a 6pt swing by losing a 2 goal lead at home and losing today

And we won the league thereafter. Bad example.

We weren't up against two oil states, a bunch of Cockneys who have spent a billion pounds in two years and a Man Utd who are the biggest spenders in Europe over the last decade under Bob Paisley.

Mook I get it - they are cheats. But Jurgen proved he could compete. Could we have loosened the coffers a bit more, been a bit more proactive?

In my book yes we could, but thats on our owners isn't it? Even this January we could have taken advantage of our FFP status and brought in players whilst other clubs couldn't but we did zip.

We stood still when we won the league and it set us back. We always stand still when we do relatively well under FSG.
