Monday Apr 24:

Pochettino is close to joining Chelsea and the word is Mount is now wavering about whether he wants to leave. Is there anything more irritating as a fan than when a player you don’t even want is acting like he’s doing you a favour by considering coming to you? I’m getting strong Lee Bowyer vibes here. There was a report last week that Gallagher needs to be given a strong sales pitch by us because he wants to stay in London. It’s probably bollocks but again it just makes you think “who the fuck are you? You should be walking over broken glass to come here”.

The club put out a video of the fan penalty shoot out from the weekend. It was good, the two lads who made it through to Anfield seemed sound, and the lad who won decided to split the money with the other one and said to him as they left the pitch “You’re proper sound you, lad”. It was nice.

The other thing I took from it was that Stevie just belongs here. It’s his comfort zone, he’s relaxed and happy when he’s in and around things here. He was on the pitch with the two lads, just chatting with them and being the club legend he is. He’s been doing quite a bit of stuff here since he left Villa and his son was mascot for the game. I don’t think he’s particularly comfortable anywhere else, this is home.

Finally, when they were shooting the early stages of this at the training ground, they brought out Ox, Fabinho and Bobby. The weather was fucking miserable and the lads were a bit subdued. Ox is usually great at this stuff and he tried, while Fab is a really good sport too and he made an effort. Bobby though, he’s still barely speaking any English. How the fuck can you be here that long and not pick up the language? It’s mad. Even Gazza learned Italian. Is Bobby lazy or thick? And will Darwin be the same? Suarez learned English and he’s not the brightest bulb in the box. It took him a while but he got there in the end.
