A little rash on their goal, but that was a minor blip in what I thought was an exceptional defensive display.

Against teams like this he’s extremely important to us. He’s actually extremely important against all opponents, but faced with aerial bombardment he’s by some distance the best defender in the league.

Also his passing should get more attention, he’s world class at long range passing.

I loved his interview after the game. He seemed pretty fucking happy - and rightly too - but normally he's almost too cool to show any emotion win, lose or draw. I think it shows just how important that game was, our away form has not been great (even if results have been ok) and we've found going there tough before. It sets a good marker for the 6 aways we have left.

@3 Stacksthat's you he's talking about kid. When is this Jackson lad going to end him?

The Jackson thing was tongue in cheek because unlike most people on here, I think he's good given his age, price, etc... you know how it goes, it's the sort of comment that gets #engagement.

I did think Virgil was done at the top level in general. He was terrible last season and looked like shit with the Netherlands as well.

But as I've said, that's what the great ones do; they prove people wrong. He has bounced back.

That is one of Klopp's traits as well. He has had a few really bad seasons in his career but he finds a solution.

Was great seeing him so emotional, he's looked incredibly calm and composed after every other trophy win. Feeling the weight of the responsibility of captaining us to a trophy clearly meant the world to him.

I agree with that - the typical Dutch insouciance that a lot of players carry, which inevitably leads into a destructive narcissism when they play for their national team, was notably absent yesterday - it meant a lot to him, and he didn't care who knew it.
