Why is Law a turncoat?

It was Dennis Law that backheeled Manchester United into the 2nd division in 1974 whilst playing for Manchester City. That's why he's a turncoat. Here' another true story. Law was given his first ever start for Hudddersfield Town in 1957 aged 16 by then Huddersfield manager Bill Shankly.

While we all like to think an ex manc sent the mancs down in 74, the result in that derby didnt matter one jot on them going down as other teams above them got results that made them safe.

So, wrong although I hate to have to say it, law wasnt a turncoat for scoring when he could have shanked it wide.

We did that with Torres....still got sold.

As for playing hardball being a high risk strategy, I'd rather we played hardball and got every penny for our best player, than bend over like lily livered pussies and sell for say £30 million plus a shite cast off (ala Nunez).

In an ideal world so would I but the financial reality is we cannot afford to have a protracted battle with Suarez and Madrid that consumes the whole summer window. If we came out of it with a better price at the death then we would have lost all our target replacements and end up with a few dregs.

If we forced him to stay the whole saga would rumble along until the Jan window and our season would be fucked up from the start. Getting rid now even if we take a bit of a haircut is the least worst option painful as it is.

Be disappointed if the present targets are dependent on a Suarez sale. I think Carroll is the vital piece in reality at this stage.

Mkit, Toure, Aspas & Alberto about £35m , Carroll, Jonjo & Jay Spearing about £23m.

If the Yanks won't spend £12 to £15m we might as well give up now.

This is what the Mirror are reporting with regards to the Luis Suarez saga.

Angry Liverpool will deliver a put-up-or-shut-up ultimatum to loose-lipped star Luis Suarez.

Weary of the unsettled striker's almost daily public pronouncements on his future, the Anfield giants will now lay down the law and demand he put in an official transfer request if he remains determined to leave.

The Uruguay international - currently on Confederations Cup duty in Brazil - has turned what promises to be this summer's biggest transfer saga into a near farce by offering regular, spectacularly unsubtle, hints that he is desperate to move to Real Madrid.

Yet there is genuine bafflement within Anfield about the reasoning behind his comments, following the latest outburst in which he suggested he has lacked backing in England, and he would "give his heart and soul" to Real.

Suarez has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if an offer exceeding £40million is made, a fact which makes all of his many and varied outbursts redundant.

So far though, no interest in the player has been expressed by any club, let alone formal offers made.

Instead of continuing to snipe at the club, their supporters and the British media, Liverpool now want Suarez to simply come clean and tell them he wants to go.

That of course, would mean the player forfeiting any cut of the transfer fee.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has had enough of the posturing and positioning, and is now ready to deliver an ultimatum that the situation be sorted quickly.

Rodgers has already spoken to Suarez, making clear Liverpool's position.

They don't want him to leave, but are powerless to prevent him triggering the clause in his contract.

He will, though, have to ask for a move, and will also need to sort his future before the club jet off to Asia and Australia in the middle of next month for a pre-season tour.

A club insider explained on Monday that there is a growing sense of frustration and anger within Anfield.

"Luis will be told - in no uncertain terms - he must put his cards on the table, and do it quickly," the source explained.

"There is no way Brendan Rodgers will be left high and dry with no options if Suarez forces a move, so he wants it to be sorted one way or another before the season begins."

That will mean a time-limit being set on any deal - and a clear message sent to both the player and the club he wants to join, Real, that there will be no budging on the price set out in his contract.

Real have yet to even make an enquiry, and Suarez's continuing outbursts strongly suggest they are trying to force the price down by encouraging the player to agitate for a move and make it impossible for him to stay at Anfield.

Liverpool are wise to that predictable tactic though, and it will not be allowed to happen.

I doubt we would get all the deals through with just the Carroll deal done.

The Yanks might effectively bridge the loans but Suarez would have to be on his way too imo.

Expect FSG to make a bumper signing if Luis Suarez does leave. The Mkhitayran deal is expected to be sealed regardless of any Suarez sale.

The Mirror seem to be making it their summer's work to cause trouble with us & Luis. The article they had yesterday was disgraceful when you looked at the actual Q&A at the end of the article & the headline, interpretation & tone of the piece. I am glad I finally broke with the habit of 30 years or so & stopped buying it after the Suarez-Evra coverage by Holt et al.

I think you're right. This piece is likely to have been written by Dave Maddock, whom I thought was an excellent journalist with regards to LFC. He's let himself down with some of his recent articles.

However Brian Reades articles are well worth a read. Although he's a lifelong Liverpool fan, he's also a critic and his articles are well balanced to say the least.

It surprises me Sir Rog the number of people who seem to swallow what the daily mancs says about anything connected to LFC. You only have to read the para at the top of their LFC page. 'Once the most successful club in England, Liverpool have fallen on hard times.......'

Really!?

Anyhow, it looks like the club is going to play hardball with Suarez if the daily wail is to be believed.

Liverpool FC | Mail Online

Liverpool will demand Luis Suarez provides written confirmation of his intention to leave in an attempt to swiftly resolve the saga over his future.

The Uruguay international, who is currently playing at The Confederations Cup, has given several interviews about his desire to quit Anfield this summer but, as yet, he has not informed Liverpool's senior figures.

If Suarez is going to be sold to Real Madrid, as he desires, Liverpool will expect him to submit an official transfer request, while they would also want to recoup a fee in the region of £50million. As yet, Madrid have not made a formal bid for the 26-year-old.

Liverpool are still making plans for next season as though Suarez will be around but, realistically, they know it will be difficult to keep him after all that has happened during the past month.

It is for that reason the club want the issue put to bed as quickly as possible, as it would not be in the interest of either party for the uncertainty to drag on towards the start of the new Barclays Premier League campaign.

Manager Brendan Rodgers, whose only signing so far has been Kolo Toure, wants to add goals to his team and Liverpool expect to receive international clearance in the next 24 hours to complete the signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.

So, if he wants to move, hand in a request and kiss goodbye to your loyalty payments.

Liverpool are pretty much saying, ''put up or shut up''. It's not all cut and dried. Real Madrid won't put in a bid( that's if they decide to) until they have a new manager.

They then will have to tempt Liverpool with a mouth watering offer. An offer that Liverpool have said must exceed the £50 million they got for Torres.

There is one snag. Will Real Madrid be able to afford both Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale?

This is pretty much it. The club is saying if you want to leave, fine. But, hand in a written request so you aint getting loyalty payments etc.

As for any club coming in for him, true its not cut and dried. The club is playing hardball and showing it wont be messed about.
