There must be something which has Schnapps in but still satisfies the criteria though. Like say, Scnapps, gin and grapefruit juice. Called a 3x2. Imagine how suave it would be ordering a 3x2!

7 & 7, Seagrams 7 and 7up

That sounds ace.

Seagrams is a whiskey, right?

Yeah sorry no Schnapps, got carried away with your B & Q length of wood inspired drink haha.

Steamboat: Southern Comfort, lime cordial, lemonade

This fits the bill: strong, fruity and sweet (but not too sweet) while being non-girly

Good shout. If I'm being really critical would prefer the alcohol components : mixer elements at 2:1 rather than 1:2. Definitely added to the list though.

Old Fashioned

7 & 7

Steamboat

Possibly black Russian, maybe that woodford stuff on its own.

Are there any citrus based spirits, like Cointreau?

Disaronno and coke.

Goes down an absolute treat IMO.

This.

Try doing an Otley Run (16 pubs, 1 pint in each of them with the odd shot/mixer thrown in every 2 pubs) and being gassed off pints and then have one of these beauties infront of you.

Tastes like an alcoholic Dr. Pepper in my opinion but I got my dad on them and he said it tastes like marzipan

Sorry, can't stand marzipan. But I know not to waste money on it now!

No, tis mainly white rum; lots of crushed lime and ice, a splash of soda and loads of mint leaves

You can substitute the soda with a cheeky Cava if so desired

Tequila and salt round the top of the glass play no part unless the barman is an imbecile

For a beer garden / sit outside in the sunshine sipper :

  • (Tall straight glass, then in the following order...)

  • Ice,lots of

  • Vodka, just enough

  • Soda, right to the top

  • A dash of lime juice

Chuck on some Creed Original Vetiver and a fresh open necked shirt and lo, instant fanny magnetism.

Like the sound of a Silient Third

Just been on mojitos which are tasty

If i'm at somehere smart i'll often have a large rum, something good like a Mount Gay, and a double espresso to round off the evening

Matty knows. I wouldn't worry about the health concerns over the sugar content of rum - getting hammered isn't the healthiest pastime by its very nature.

I get nostalgic and dribbly looking at threads like this. I don't drink any more because of a hereditary condition which means I have elevated levels of uric acid in my blood, leaving me prone to gout. Anyone thats had it will know that you don't want it. Its fucking sore.

So get pissed, and enjoy. You spawny cunts.

That's not great, surely you can have some in moderation?

Possibly, I'd just as soon not take the risk and aggravate it. And a few drinks often leads to a lot of drinks, for me anyway.

ETA : I feel like Buzz fucking Killington here. In hindsight, mentioning that I can't drink in a drinking thread is not the best.

Woodford reserve - top recommendation.

I am sitting here right now with a mojito. It ticks all the boxes - strong, fruity, sweet. You need white rum (Bacardi fine); lime juice; ice and a bit of mint freshly picked out of your herb garden. It is a lovely drink. Not too sweet, but fruity and strong, especially if you are not shy with the rum.

I'm planning to drink mojitos on holiday when we go down to FL on Saturday. Mrs G makes the perfect mojito. It is perfect for sitting by the pool or when the sun is shining.
