The Census

Censuses were compiled in 1881,1891 and 1901 so what the fuck has Labour got to do with it?

We've had a census every decade since 1801. It used to ask for your name, occupation and age, and your relationship to the head of household. It didn't ask for your method of travel to work, your qualifications, whether you were looking for work, whether you were waiting to start a job, whether if you'd been offered a job last week could you have started it within 2 weeks (wtf?), your religion, whether you've got a passport, who your employer is, the address of your workplace, etc.

It's typical Labour intrusiveness. They're the ones who devised this census.

This is the basis of a current campaign by the British Humanist Association. Even though only about 20 people and a goat attend religious services in this country, most people tick "Christian" out of habit, and this is used to justify everything from funding for faith schools to bishops in the House of Lords.

Unfortunately the BHA's ads were banned from railway stations for being "offensive". Go figure:

Exactly. Want the Pope to come back?

What a load of Daily Mail reading nonsense!

The census is changed in some form for almost every census and its done by an independent body.

If you read the notes you will see that this information cannot be released for another 100 years.

It is not party political other than its the government of the day that is responsible for undertaking and compiling the information given.

Its the third one ive filled in as an adult and very little has changed, its always been a ball ache to fill in but it will hopefully help your ancestors to trace you as part of their family tree and some of the info might help to make a positive difference in the future.

Talk about paranoia.

It's bugger all to do with paranoia. It's just a ballache having to fill in so much useless information that frankly has nothing to do with them (or me, for that matter). I can't see who'd benefit from knowing in 100 years time that if I was offered a job 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't be able to start next week because I'm on a 6 month notice period. It's completely nosy and irrelevant.
