England striker and captain Harry Kane is aspiring to hit the heights of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi after winning the golden boot at the World Cup:

"It is hard to compare myself with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, they have set an unbelievable standard over the last few years but they are the heights we all want to reach.

Yes Harry, it's very, very hard for you to compare yourself with Messi and Ronaldo.

"Nike have been kind enough to make me a pair of golden boots which I am gong to wear tomorrow, but I guess I will have to score a goal to make it worthwhile.

From Colin Kapernick to this. Oh, Nike, how you fall so quickly.

Ireland need to get checking those Ancestor sites to find a few players.

Get some good Irish lads like Aldridge, McAteer, Lawrenson and Houghton to name just a few.

Don't forget Tony Cascarino who didn't have any Irish parentage whatsoever but apparently spent a stag weekend in Dublin so qualified through that route

Switzerland are currently leading Iceland 2-0 in their Nations League match. There's a guy playing alongside Gylfi Sigurdsson in Iceland's midfield by the name of Victor Palsson. Palsson's name might ring a bell with a few of you, as he was in our ressies squad once.
