Southampton(h) PL- Match Thread

Season has been largely underwhelming to this point. However, we are facing the most congested and significant period of the season, aided by the return of Lallana, Coutinho and Mane. On the back of 3 good wins I think this is an absolutely huge game in terms of making a statement. Southamton have proved to be a tricky opponent for us, couldn't find the net in 4 games against them last season and it seems like ages since we beat them. Pellegrino like his predecessor is a very defensive minded manager and I fully expect to see Huddersfield/Maribor positioning from them on saturday. But the last 3 games have shown if you can keep it tight at the back and just remain patient, something will invariably fall or present itself to you.

Team I'd go for: Mignolet, TAA, Gomez, Matip,Moreno, Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino, Mane

give Lallana and Oxlade Chamberlain 25 from bench. 2-0 to the reds.

I agree with the need to keep our shape and keep it tight at the back. There’s no need to be too adventurous, as the attacking talent we have can score goals against anyone if we are patient, and we can quickly pile them on too, but there’s no need to give ourselves a hill to climb.

I like the team as suggested, especially Gomez and Matip in the middle of the defence. I’ve wanted to see that for ages.

Both last seasons finished 0-0, so looking at a goalless game again.

L 0 Scummers 5 obviously.

Repped for the scummers shout. I can't stand these cunts almost as much as i hate Man U & Chelsea. Vile city, vile fans, vile scummer cunts, vile chants at their ex players and a two bob thrown up in 5 minutes wank of a stadium.

I hope we slam 5 down their stinking sewers and I hope Lallana plays and scores the fucking lot of em.

APPROACH FROM THE SEA, INTO SOUTHAMPTON WATER, AND SEND A 5 MAN UNIT UP THE RIVER ITCHEN BEFORE DAYLIGHT.

COME IN THROUGH CEMEX, SET UP AN OPS CENTRE AT THE CITROEN DEALERSHIP. SIMPLE EXTRACTION AROUND 10AM BEFORE THE CROWDS BUILD, IN AND OUT.

Good name

It is possible Jurgen Klopp will have the strongest line-up since he became the Liverpool manager this weekend with Adam Lallana the latest high profile player to step up his comeback.

Liverpool also saw Philippe Coutinho make his return to action for Brazil during the international break and Sadio Mane is also expected to be available. [Chris Bascombe - Telegraph]
