I've seen them three times this season. Each time was like watching a League One side play a Premier League side in an early round of the League Cup. All huff and puff, plenty of aggression, very little football ability.

I thought Leeds at times pinged the ball around midfield very quickly I think they're just lacking the top level players ability for it to be effective all the time, in the middle third of the pitch they were constantly slicing through Everton with little or no end product.

Yep. The match stats are below. Leeds were pretty poor throughout and yet still probably should have had a couple more goals to show for their play- Harrison was particularly disappointing, too slow to get crosses in and repeatedly hit piss poor corners shin-high to the first defender.

 

But, they've made their choice on this- playing spoiling, negative, niggly football brings out the passion and spirit of the Blues, apparently. If they're happy with that and another 15th/ 16th place finish then good for them. I'd be really pissed off if the team I supported continually played like they have been doing since about April, especially given the money they've spent. They've allowed themselves to be cast as perpetual underdogs, the new Burnley or Wimbledon, and are miles away from being a top 8 side, never mind getting back to the status they crave (and haven't enjoyed since the mid-80s).

Bamford looked miles above their other players when he came on, despite obviously being pretty rusty. His movement and control looked excellent.

What's stranger is they seem to be enjoying it. Who the fuck would want their team to play like that? They'd have hounded out other managers for setting a team up like that (and I don't just mean Rafa), yet Frankie DeTory seems to have them completely hypnotised.

It's like they've been gaslit into accepting this dross because the end of last season gave them a chance to actually support the team and it felt good for once, rather than continually moan about it and pretend everyone else was keeping them down. Lampard is a complete fraud.

I've just watched him kicking off about not being able to play maupay because they didn't sign him in time because of the bank holiday. He did all their prep to include him for the game and he only found out on Tuesday he couldn't use him. Like it's anyone else's fault but Everton. If they don't know the rules, tough shit. And you just know their fans will see it as some conspiracy against them.

It's a plan that seems based on Jose Mourinho winning the lottery through shithousery and luck with a depleted Chelsea side against us in at Anfield in April 2014.
