I got told he's refused to play cos he's agreed terms with Barca & wants to force the issue.

I'm Dave would of heard that though if it were true

I think this one is going to get messy. I reckon they won't offer anything more than 17 or 18 million. And hes going to force the issue. He shouldnt move for anything less than a bare minimum of 20 million.

Javier Mascherano waits on Liverpool after agreeing terms with Barcelona | Football | guardian.co.uk

Javier Mascherano took a step further towards a transfer to Barcelona with the Liverpool player believed to have agreed personal terms with the La Liga champions.

The two clubs, however, are some way apart in their valuation of the 26-year-old, with Barcelona offering €15m (£12.2m) plus Alexander Hleb and Martin Cáceres as makeweights.

Despite any eagerness from Mascherano to leave Merseyside, where his wife and young family are believed to be unhappy, interest from other clubs had been tentative, with Barça's sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta last week ruling out a move for the player, while Roy Hodgson had already publicly challenged Internazionale to meet Liverpool's £25m asking price.

Whether Barcelona, who are believed to have debts of more than £350m, can up their offer is unclear, and much depends on how highly Hodgson rates Cáceres and Hleb.

Cáceres, the Urguay international defender, spent last season on loan with Juventus after struggling to impose himself at Camp Nou, while Hleb has proved even less of a success since joining from Arsenal in 2008. The Belarus midfielder was last month told he has no future under the Barça coach Pep Guardiola after spending last season on loan with VfB Stuttgart.

If true about Mascherano I would tell him & his agent what fee is acceptable to us & that if September 1st comes without that being paid, then Mascherano will be fined the maximum 2 weeks wages every time he refuses to play for us , so he would in effect go unpaid until he sorts himself out.

Cacares and Hleb + 12m is pretty decent when considering we need a full back and Roy won't be given the money to spend. That's about 25m in today's climate. Try and get Bojan on loan too. it's plausible,

Hleb will strengthen the squad no end. Fuck Mascherano though, the mercenary twat.

To me, it is not even about being grateful or ungrateful. Just because we bought him from West Ham doesn't mean we gave him the career. He was always going to play for a top european team.

However, there is a way to behave, especially for a Liverpool player. You want to leave? Fine, if we get a decent offer which we think its right. Until then, put your kit on and go out there and fucking play.

Instances like this, I really wish we are owned by a rich arab like City. We could then afford to put players like this into our reserve team and ask them to shut the fuck up. That will teach the agents too.

But, considering how wonderful our custodians are, I wouldn't be surprised if we accept a £15m bid with a Hleb thrown in.

Who's this Caceres fella? Never heard of him.

Haven't seen much of him, but he's been linked with a loan move to Juventus this summer (he played for them last season as well) and I've noted that their supporters think he can be a very decent addition to the team. He is supposedly very fast, and can play in several positions.
