It is noticeable how much more trust in him his teammates have this season. As a result he looks far less nervous and is making far fewer errors. Granted, there was a spell in the second half where he kept giving the ball away, but that was in keeping with the rest of the team who couldn't keep a hold of it at all. He doesn't get muscled off the ball half as much as he used to, which is another plus. He is also moving and playing the ball much quicker as well. It's a shame that the team looks so disjointed because it takes away from the improvement he has made this year.

One of the few who could be reasonably pleased with their performance tonight.

Rest of the midfield was a disgrace.

Yes he should be really pleased at how he decided to not go for a header and let the Reading player go up unchallenghed and create their goal all by himself.

Apart from that he was invisible as ever, Lucas is the definition of a nothing player.

Apart from the 'Alonsoesque' ball he put through to Captain Hollywood?

Jesus. If you're going to try and defend Lucas or somehow paint an inaccurate picture about his qualities; criticising a player he's lucky to be on the same pitch as is not the way to go about it.

WUM.

Allah. If your going to slag off one of our top three players this season, at least, apart from the fact that you are worried about being proved wrong, tell us why?

Yes..please do tell us why?

If lucas was scouse, you wouldnt have a problem with him.

hes been poor in the past but been one of our best players this season. better than mascherano, better than carragher, better than dirk kuyt, better than alot of players. dare i say steven gerrard.

im not saying hes a more capable player, im saying, give him shit when he plays shit but give him praise when he plays well.

He's wasn't bad last season and he hasn't been bad this season. Probably also our most consistent player this season, so credit to him for that.

But for me like Keane (a better player than him though), he just doesn't fit in our system and/or has a good enough understanding with his teammates. That's not solely his fault and perhaps others should be offering him more/easier passing options. But imo we just don't have time anymore for the rest of the team to adjust their game to play a game more suited to Lucas's style. Against lower league opposition at home he should definitely play alongside Aquilani, but against the rest I think it would be best to start playing with Aquilani and Masch in midfield and see if that will improve us.

Lucas' use of the ball this past couple of games has been far better than Mascherano has managed when playing the same role. He's even played some through balls that have taken out the entire opposition defence and got us in behind. Better control by the forwards and they would have been goals. He keeps improving.

Shit, the Lucas fans are ganging up on me.

Luckily, they'll attack me sideways on so I'll easily avoid their (n)one paced, ponderous and predictable attacks by easily strolling past them as they imitate a mole running through sand whilst giving chase.

Job's a good un.

Come on boys, this is getting rediculous! Darby played well. Lucas is a shining light in our season. For fucks sake!
