Did very well for his first proper game. Looked positive. I am also worried that we will see very little of him though. I don't think Rafa will move Johnson to right midfield.

One thing i think went unnoticed last night was when i thought Lyon had scored but it hit the side netting and went out for a corner.

 

When they showed you the replay of the incident i think it was Kelly who was the one who headed it out and stopping a goal scoring opportunity as Lyon had a player just the other side of him.

 

Superb piece of defending that was.

He was born in Whiston, but was raised in Bolton. There was an interview with him on lfc.tv and he says he's from Bolton.

Kind of makes you wonder why we spent £18m on a right back when we only have 1 good striker.

 

Mind you, it will certainly make a change from wondering why we spent £7m on Dossena when we already had Insua and Aurelio.

He played them onside for the first goal. The rest of the team were defending the 6 yard line and he was scampering about in the box. Watch the goal again, when reina fails to punch the ball clear and it comes back in Kelly plays them onside. Thats why we don't have men on the posts.

 

Apart from that he did very well.

Paco is a bit harsh, Riena fluffed the punch.

 

I was worried the pace may get to him in the 2nd half but he kept up brilliantly. His crossing was excellent, he put loads of pace on the ball which is a nightmare for the defenders and keepers.

 

Great prospect, hope he gets another chance soon but I'd think long and hard against him playing him Sunday if he's fit.

Agreed, Darby lacks the physical stature and pace needed to make it as a premiership footballer, whereas Kelly has both of those attributes. Hopefully this young lad will continue to progress.

Happy for the lad - missed the game due to a fucking presentation evening but watched the LFC TV match and he was a massive positive. Just needs to build on the perfomance which i am sure he will do. Anyone know how long he's injured for?

He had a very good game, I was made up for him and then gutted that he had to go off; his attempt to block that first goal was heroic. I was sat in the lower centenary and he's a big unit up close, got real presence.
