No problems with him on the pitch but I wonder why we never fought harder to keep him if he was such a great team player?

So we don't know how hard the club fought to keep him. And with our 3 main forwards for the previous 4 years or whatever all hitting a similar age, contracts running out all very close together, something had to give. We had to refresh the front line. Mane had decided he'd done his shift and wanted something else, which is fair enough. As many find out the grass is not always greener, but we needed a refresh and got Diaz because he was moving on, who's 5 years his junior. I'm one of the first to criticise the club for some of the things we do in the transfer market, but I think we got the mane one about right. You can't keep all the players forever, some need to get old on other people's coin. If only we'd have been as ruthless in midfield.

We all know that it’s been a massive massive problem but is there now signs that we are about to transform ourselves?

Trent has been a revelation for me and needs to now stay there. He has been revitalised by playing in the centre and 6 assists in his last 6 games plus his all round play is no fluke. I’ve said for a few seasons now that he is made for playing in the centre due to his passing ability. I don’t say this lightly but his ability to pick out a player is better than KDB.

Next we have Bajcetic. I think we forget how good he was before he got injured. I know he is only 18 but he was outshining all our established players and Klopp had total faith in the lad. He could be an absolute sensation for us and nothing seems to phase him. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

We are tentatively looking like we may get Mac Allister in. Another who has proven himself in the league and will add a lot to us.

If we can add another in there who has a bit of experience and is quality, we are set for the foreseeable.

Curtis has also gone up in my estimation  a lot over the last few games. He works his arse off and is a decent back up option.

Thoughts?

Of those four:

1) A career specialist RB and should go back there

2) Is extremely talented, but has not started 10 league games in midfield.

3) Doesn’t play for us.

4) Curtis Jones. Talented, but who knows?

I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy, but if you’re aiming to get 90+ points and win the champions league you don’t build the team around that.

We had a CB problem, we got the man. We lost the European cup because of a sketchy GK, we spend 60m and get Alisson.

Serious investment gets you serious results.
