US Election 2020 Thread

Trump is absolutely mental, but one good thing he's done is reduced America's military involvement around the world, something I've been hoping to see for many years. It's a big shame the Dems never did this and instead the likes of Obama and Clinton dragged American into conflicts they had no business in. Whoever wins, I hope we see more withdrawal of troops, less involvement in military conflicts and their bombing campaigns across the world are put to an end.

Spot on that, the idea that it somehow vindicates Trumpism doesn't take into account the tribal nature of politics, there are Dem and Rep states and communities that would never in a million years vote for the other side.

Yeah, and there’s also a bit of twattery from the commentators because they expected a “Blue wave” so are trying to then push that onto the winners, who expected nothing of the sort.

The Democrats kept saying “don’t listen to the polls it’s going to be close”.

There isn’t one part of “Trumpism” that the Democrats need to keep. They just need to be sensible and make sure that disaffected blue collar workers have a decent job with good pay.

Apparently Donna Brydges (born in 1901) voted via absentee ballot in Mason County, Michigan. That would make her 119 years old!

June Aiken (born in 1900) voted via absentee ballot in Jackson County, Michigan. That would make them 120 years old!

This could rumble on for quite a while.

At least (if true) should put to bed the sceptics on ghosts and life after death.

Could all be a massive computer glitch, but (if true) does require an investigation.

To be honest I spent ages on Twitter last night seeing random conspiracies being thrown around by blue tick Trump cranks and then virtually instantly debunked.

The thing I can't get my head around with Trump types, and it's designed in part to make you mentally ill - is they lie all the time, about everything. There's people on there now claiming all the remaining states are 'in the bag' for Trump, even as the actual physical and visual evidence points to them heading further away.

I've never encountered a political movement like this. Like, I hate Thatcher, I could give you substantive reasons for why I hate Thatcher, someone else could give me substantive reasons about why they love here, depending on our different experiences and world view.

With this lot though it'd be: "I hate Thatcher. She stole the election, I walked past a voting booth and saw Augusto Pinochet's entire household voting for her, and the Dave Clark Five. She's also an alien who eats kids - I saw it, and if you don't believe me that's fake news."

That isn't politics, or opinion, or one side of a coin, it's pure unadulterated mentalism.

This culture has to be sidelined permanently somehow, or else it will be the end of science, the end of fact, the end of truth, with all the devastation that will entail.

It's interesting though when you think about how we got here. Note all the evangelicals coming out for Trump, and when you think about it they dine out on the same bullshit. You see whole towns in Texas where houses are foreclosed and virtually every single store is shut, and yet, there'll be about 18 churches.

It's this idea that despite the despair you're living in, you can make things better if you just escape from reality and BELIEVE.

That's how Trump works. Forget science, believe Covid will go away and it will. Forget the fact I'm in Putin's pocket, believe the Dems would do and say anything to take me down. The economy doesn't work for you, but you're surrounded by beautiful jobs - jobs jobs jobs everywhere.

How can he claim that Georgia is corrupt in favour of Democrats, basically just throwing shit at every State that hasn't done what he wants.

On CNN they just showed Trump supporters in Michigan chanting Stop the Count

On CNN they just showed Trump supporters in Arizona chanting Count the Votes

Just a cunt being a cunt, going to court to try to intimidate has been a tactic for years.

I am just waiting for someone from the Trump camp to tell us this is an epic swindle.

I work a lot with American types, mostly virtually these days for obvious reasons.

Not all, but a significant majority of the ones I come into semi regular contact with are the absolute definition of hysterical fannies.

Their ability to turn even the smallest mishap into a doomsday drama is a sight to behold. One Client, when Trump won in 2016, asked their new manager (a German) to stay away from the Office as there were too many upset employees and they were worried about her seeing them crying.

I fear for their sanity now they’ve really got something to get stressed about. Fortunately, for them, most are Democrats so their rough ride might have a positive end until the next drama comes along.

Note: I’m sure the Americans on here are solid, chilled out, types and not at all like the ones I deal with in my professional life. I’m probably just unlucky.

It seems to share similarities with the more rabid Brexit extremists. A desire to return to a deluded vision of the 19th century.

In the UK to return to ruling the waves, and in the US to live in Deadwood.

What happens in war when shit gets gritty and real and the soldiers who are used to luxury have to rough it or be innovative.

We were over in Washington state in February 86 and were going out on exercise think we were due to be out for about a week ration packs the works really,  as we were marching out we saw a load of American Marines coming back in one of our lads asked the OC why they were coming back in as they had only been out a few days .

They are coming back in for a shower and clean kit he said while shaking his head.

I think Liverpool fans are more prepared for all this due to our experiences with Evertonians over the years.

"They put Liverpool...on Match of the Day first. Everton sixth, sometimes fifth. It's the most dishonest thing."

"Robbie Fowler, he takes cocaine - that's why he scores lots of goals, he takes cocaine, he's not even from Liverpool, he's Guatemalan."

They are the extreme at everything. Brilliant stuff and mentalism. I've mention it before but I went on one of their warships (The USS Winston Churchill ironically) for a look around. Pretty much the same model and spec as the 23 frigate I was on and everything was 100 x better. Even the bogs were from the future. Our bogs had an old copy of Razzle stashed in it. Theirs probably had some Victoria Secrets Model in the shadows who comes out to 3 whistles in the best sexy gear ready to drink your body but she'll stab your eyeballs out if you don't sing the Star Spangled Banner word for word when you spunk

Did you get to see Cher?

Trump is launching a new range of hats, with a new logo.

Make America Vote Again

Depending on the State;

Make America Count Everything (MACE - A Staff of Political Office)

Make America Stop Everything (MASE - To act as a Master)

Or

Make America Stop Kounting  (only way to get Freedom to wear a MASK)

For the Religious nut cases

Make America Stop Socialism  ( MASS)

No I didn't Google four letter words beginning with MA

Biden leads are paper thin and Trump leads are substantial.

No. In PA, the votes to come in are heavily pro-Biden. He’s going to win PA and that’s all he needs.

At this point, GA, AZ and NV would just make the victory more emphatic.

It would be much more preferable for

him to win those as it just removes any shenanigans.

Either way has little bearing on my life. I am sure the USA news media will be looking to lay off a lot of staff should Biden win, same with clickbait websites I mean he's an idiot (Trump) but his ridiculousness fills the news. I'd imagine a lot of their 'comedians' will also suffer as one hell of a lot of them rely on the easy laugh.

If Trump grabs it late on then he won't be around in 4 years time and by then maybe the dems will have a decent candidate, republicans too. It's been a real shit sandwich these last two elections.

If Biden gets it then he won't finish it will he in all reality and Harris will take over.

They're screwed either way.

I think part of it comes from populism as it manifests today, through total delegitimisation of the opponent or the opposing view, it deals in absolutes. Trump and his following take it to the extreme level, but you can detect elements of this in others now. Probably all that echochambering doesn't help.
