Camping in Wales

Nope, not an hilarious jape about Flying Pig, I'm looking for a decent camp site in Wales, for a couple of days in early May. Ideally somewhere mountainous, near the coast and in short-ish driving distance of a castle or two, preferably with a pub closeby. Not Conwy though, would prefer somewhere a little further down the coast. Any recommendations of either places or camp sites much appreciated.

Porthmadog too far out? http://blackrocksands.webs.com/

I stayed in Porthmadog for 10 days back in 1983 with a local lad I was in the Army with, obviously things have changed since then but it was a decent enough place once the locals decided they would speak to an Englishman. Drank mostly in some railway pub as the Landlord was from County Durham and a good egg. Went drinking in Bangor a few times, strange place. Nice countryside and enough places of interest to visit in the area.

Riverside campsite -

5 miles from Penrhyn Castle, 5 miles or so from Llanberis, about 10 miles from Aber falls, 8 minutes from Menai bridge.

Site is amazing, staff there are superb, and it's incredibly clean with an amazing bistro on site.

Don't worry, RL, we've all done similar.  Yes, I think we've all "camped in Wales" in our confused youth, haven't we?

Now "visiting the peak district".  Well I'm sorry, I just don't want to hear about that sort of thing.

Disgusting.
