I thought the Ben Stiller bit was quality.

Has anyone seen El secreto de sus ojos?

Its got to be pretty fucking special* to be Une Prophete, Katalyn Varga and Let the Right one In (I've not seen the other nominations either).

* Not that I think the Oscars has any credence.

The hurt locker was fucking great, anyone who says different isn't worth listening to on the subject of film. I didn't think Avatar would get best picture because the story wasn't anything special but I thought Cameron would get best director.

I found it really annoying when people kept mentioning how beautiful that precious monster is, fuck off. A bunch beautiful people telling some obese black chick how beautiful she is, it's insulting really why would you mention her looks in the first place unless that's the first thing you notice and I don't think it's her beauty they are noticing.

Another thing, when they have fellow actors come out and gush about how great the best actress and actor nominees are is so embarrassing (apart from the ones who try and make it funny). I could hardly listen I was getting uncomfortable it gave me massive douche chills.

The Oscars is the most self-congratulatory nonsense imaginable. I know it is by American film for American film, but global coverage just annoys me immensely. The best films DON'T come out of America and haven't done for about sixty years.

Just another example of cultural imperialism, and we all lap it up.

It just makes them even more self-important than they already are. The only category worth anything is the patronizing "Best Foreign Film" or whatever they call it, and it is invariably better than the Oscar winner.

I HATE the Oscars.

Love Film Hate the Oscars. Again. I must be pleased with it.
