Really rate Carlton Cole. Much better all round striker than Bent and would be a great signing... However, he's worth more than 13 million IMO

Might be worth more than 13 million, but West Ham's finances might dictate a lower fee.

Maybe a Dossena, Voronin or Degen could sweeten any potential deal?!

Us: Look, West Ham. We will either give you £8m or Voronin and £10m.

WH: £8m

Us: £8m? How about £11m and Voronin?

WH: £7m.

Us: Ughh... Alright.

Only for us LFD.

Also , for Carlos Durninio ;

I know everybody is entitled to their opinion & it's a forum etc. but how is Carlton Cole an 'abomination'. You obviously don't rate the lad but how is that comment called for about a young guy who is talented enough to be part of Cappello's England plans.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini confirms that he has not been contacted by any Premier League club over the availability of Simon Kjaer.

The defender has gained a string of admirers as a result of some stand-out displays in Serie A following his 4 million euros (£3.6m) move from Danish side FC Midtjylland in July 2008.

Zamparini insists that Palermo will be looking to do all they can to keep hold of the 19-year-old but with the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and, more recently Manchester United, being linked with Kjaer that might be easier said than done.

A 12 million euros (£10.8m) release clause is unlikely to put Europe's big boys off but Zamparini admits that is a clause he is looking to have removed.

media watch"Neither Manchester United or other teams have contacted us specifically regarding Kjaer," he told skysports.com.

"There are only incorrect movements from his agent who is offering the player the teams most important for a personal profit.

"If one club wants Kjaer they have to pay 12 million euros cash. But the clause is not valid for January, only for the end of the season.

"And we are trying to eliminate this clause, discussing with the player, even if - I repeat - there are some problems with his agent."

Many arguments for signing Cole, most importantly because that means not signing Heskey. Also, Carra would be delighted that we suddenly have someone who can get near to those hoofs he sends out of defence. He should improve our defending on set-pieces, and I see him fitting much better into a 4-4-2 with Torres than Keane ever did, so we have that extra option.

He concedes an obscene amount of free-kicks while dueling for aerial balls, so I hope we don't go all vertical with him in the team.

I think Cole will be a fantastic player at some point. He has great strength and speed he just needs to work on his finishing really and he would be great, kind of like Drogba without the hysterics.

VDV would be nice to have, he would certainly strengthen the squad and he can play in a couple of positions but I'd rather take Cole as a backup to Torres.

Well putting myself outhere but dont you think they are all better players than Carlton Cole?

I think Carew was, once upon a time. Crouch is a better footballer but completely one-paced and not very good in the air. Heskey is a big girls blouse.

Cole is lightning quick, strong, not afraid, and knows how to hold the ball up and bring others into play. His finishing needs work, but is nowhere near a complete write-off. I think he would be excellent as a bench player, backup for Torres, or potentially first team as a foil for all our attackers.

Signing Carlton Cole would follow in the Liverpool tradition of signing somebody we can't stop from scoring against us...

David Johnson, Michael Robinson, John Wark, Peter Crouch?..... sure there much be a few more but no prizes....

Have thought for a while that he would be a good signing for us in our present predictament...think he is a bit injury prone though??
