I hope I'm wrong, but I've got a feeling it's going to be shit. Does anybody know if Meadows has anything to do with it? I'll feel more optimistic about it if he has.

I'm really looking forward to this. I love everything Shane Meadows has done and this is one of this best. I think it's a cracking idea for a TV spin-off and it has all the original cast as well.

 

If it continued for a couple of series to reach' 88-'89 I could imagine it being well ace taking in rave, ex, acid, baggy etc..

 

Shane Meadows is on Radio 4's The Saturday Review this er... Saturday at 7:15 to go on about it.

Anyone who watches This is England and comes away thinking racism is anything but abhorrent doesn't understand it. And probably shouldn't be allowed to watch anything other than middle of the road PG comedies.

There is talk, if This Is England '86 goes well, of doing another series for Channel 4 set in 1990. And not just because of Italia 90 and Gazza's tears. Meadows loves the idea of the series being set in the era of rave and Madchester; he's even got Ian Brown on board by giving him a cameo in This Is England '86. "He plays a copper chasing the gang with a truncheon during a massive fight scene," he says. "He had to wear shoes for the first time since the mid-80s; he's only had trainers on his feet for the past 25 years!"
