Argentina.

I have Argentina in the forum sweepstake.

The greatest footballer of all time gets the recognition he deserves and doesn’t have to share any mantle with that preening cunt Ronaldo. At least it’ll be universally recognised Ronaldo is a level below Messi.

Argentina have a far better support.

Fuck France and their cunt behaviour at the CL Final in May.

Sarkozy was also one of the government officials who put pressure on sports governing bodies to vote for Qatar.

Unless you’re French, after May, how can you vote for France?

There are scummy cunts in every country and people in government all around the world that will lie to save face but I'm not sure many governments would have completed a report within 2 weeks of the event, which turned the blame onto systematic failures and locals, and admit that there was no evidence of ticketless fans.

We of all fanbases should applaud a country that can do that. There are over 67m people living in France and they have their issues, but let's not let the bastards on the day and the way the cops are told to police, tar the entire nation.

And fuck Messi and the whole entourage around him willing him to win the world cup. Hopefully the ref doesn’t make it easier for him than it should be

I really don't care. It would be nice for Messi to go out on a high or for Konate to increase his sell on value! But I just want the whole mess to be over so we can get back to real footie again and moan about FSG and their seasonal Scrooge like behaviour. I think the Argies might sneak it but I expect lots of cynical fouling and gymnastic like feigning of injury.*

* This behaviour is not exclusive to these two teams either.

I fully appreciate that the French authorities acted swiftly after the fact (unlike UEFA, who’s report is 2 weeks overdue…).

I still resent the fact our supporters, including myself and my friends, were robbed, beaten, tear gassed and treated like cunts.

The whole situation at the ground was a disaster and it’s a miracle it didn’t lead to anything more significant. I’ve struggled to sleep in the aftermath, it’s affected my enjoyment of games this season &

I know people who won’t go abroad again. Other forumites who I know, who were at the game, have experienced the same as me.

I have no desire to ever go there again.

Fair point. An Argentinian win would boil piss in a lot of places.

Argentina and France have both won it twice already. I'd see Argentina as a superior football power, mainly thanks to the entertainment that another of their number 10s gave us all back in the day, so I'd like them to get up to three wins ahead of France.

I would say that going to any football match in any competition is a risk  due to the cunts in charge who see everybody who attends as customers only.

People can be treated like customers and not have their health and safety put at risk, though. What happened in Paris was absolutely scandalous.

Pros and cons either way.

If Konate plays, I'll be happy for him if he wins it. If he doesn't play then they deserve to lose just for that alone. I quite like the French team when they have a go as they're exciting to watch, but Deschamps is a fucking deadbeat. Hate his tactics. Just let them off the leash and they'll be even better. Instead, they score, then stop playing and just wait for counter attacks. It's a waste of their talent for me. I remember thinking the same four years ago, but they won so the ends justify the means I guess.

I don't want Messi to win a world cup because I don't like him, but the flip side to that is he's really stepped up this tournament and if he wins it I'd have to give him a tip of the cap, especially after they lost to Saudi Arabia in their first game.

I don't blame the French for what happened in Paris. Most of France was in uproar over it and sided with us.

If Argentina win then I'll be pleased for their fans as they're fucking boss.

So in short, I don't really know who I want to win, I'll only know when it kicks off and my gut will tell me.

Agreed. Riquelme was a fine player.
