*Shakes head* Everton again.

Milik cost 35 million euro when he moved from Ajax, has been scoring for fun in Italy but Everton are getting him for 15 million. Ace.

That post is from June, just in case it's not clear.  It's from around the time they were getting Mourinho or Simeone and turning their noses up at Emery and Koeman.  When they were the best team min the world for a month or two.

They can just get him now for a new World record price. Money is no object to Moshiri.

"now let's say we get a few of the players we have been linked with in - the likes of Strootman (20m), Witsel (25m) and we go for Butland (30m) and VVD (30m), we buy Milik or Janssen for 15m

thats 120m spent, and probably looking at around 500k in wages (again a generous estimate)

leaves the club with 90m and 500k in wages still burning a hole in our lovely Iranians pocket

Has this Iranian guy actually come out and said that he's giving Everton £210m to spend, or is this guy just making shit up as he's goes along?

Rhetorical question.

Moshri is only worth 1.3b, so he was never in 1.3 billion years, about to give Everton 200m for one transfer window when he doesn't even own them.

Wasn't it the number picked out of the air as his investment valued the club at 200m and they assumed that meant moshiri would pay 200m for his 50% stake and that kenwright et al wouldn't want a penny and give it all to the club.

I still don't think it's clear how much he owns is it? Last I heard is while he's the largest shareholder he doesn't hold a majority.

It was reported at the time he owns 49%.

Just had the unfortunate experience of listening to Derek Hatton on Talkshite. How did that gimp ever bring himself to sing The Red Flag?

"All the indications that I'm hearing is that the overwhelming favourite would be the docks. That way everyone coming up the Mersey will see the Everton badge, long before they see the Liver Bird."

He also claimed that the positives to be taken from their 5-0 shafting are that Koemann will never let it happen again, and that when Liverpool beat them 5-0 in the early 80's they won the league the next year.

leaves the club with 90m and 500k in wages still burning a hole in our lovely Iranians pocket, but no statement signing, just some very good ones that will make the team very competitive, say we then blow a 30m bid on Perisic (current flavour of the month after his Euro exploits and also a position we depserately need sorting) and we give him parity with rom on wages - so another 140k and 30m gone

we are then left with a 60m and 360 pw situation, to go out their and target a 'statement' signing for the club to propel us into the spotlight, go throw that at Madrid, offer them their asking price for James Rodriguez and see what they actually say when we slap the money on the table, and see what his agent says when we offer to double his current 110k pw wages.

Honestly it sounds mental even typing this out, but money talks in football, and if we are serious in making a statement then we couldn't make a bigger on than this"

What makes me laugh mostly is that it's been so long since they had a top player, he thinks all of those players would only get paid £500k pw in total! Axel Witsel probably gets more than that on his own now let alone how much he'd need to be bribed to play at the pit.

They're so small time it's just sad.

Watching the news, it's a dark and scary world out there.

Then I read this and it never fails to cheer me up.

We're top of the league.

We're scoring for fun.

They are not as good as they thought/hoped after a few games.

Their billionaire owner might be full of it.

They are still deluded about getting a seat at the top table.

Shine on you crazy bitter diamonds!

Oh, and Lukaku will be off. Maybe as soon as January to PSG.

I clicked on a link in an obituary on the Graun's website and, well, plus ça change, as they say on County Road:

He played in show business football teams and was a lifelong Everton fan. He began supporting the team in 1948 after feeling sorry on seeing them beaten 6-0 by Chelsea, the team his brother supported, at Stamford Bridge.

I think it's terrible the way we never tried to tap into that market of hundreds of thousands of people sailing up and down the river, looking for a team to support and ready to follow the first one they see.

Yanks out!

  • He'd rather lose like that then 1-0 or 2-1 because now there will be a reaction
  • A result like that shows who the players need to be shipped out are
  • This season is a freebie for Koeman
  • It's Martinez' team
  • As long as they're safe in the league he's not bothered
  • Got money at the wrong time because of FFP but when the new stadium goes up their commercial value will be increased watch them go
