Completely agree with this Shooter, but don't misunderstand me, I'm a huge Gomez fan (esp at cb), the lad's been sensational this season, but his recurring injuries are a real concern.

He has had many injuries but I'd be really interested to know how many of them have been while playing as a right back. Lots of running, quick changes of direction and you really need to be quick. At center back it's more a case of reading the game, anticipating runs and being strong and physical. Right up his street.

I would like to see how many injuries he gets if he only played at center back and never at right back. My money is on those injuries will drop significantly.

Lovren especially is not as strong as Gomez, Matip has been injury prone and I don't really see that changing.

I completely disagree with this.

Gary Cahill had a great partnership with John Terry in their last League winning season. A superior defender like van Dijk will always improve his defensive partner and Cahill has experience in a title winning team.
