Not there totally yet as he seems to tire around the 65-70 minute mark, but he's everything I like in a midfielder who can play in a midfield 2. Hardly ever takes one than one touch, very good at keeping the play going and I think he'll only improve the more he plays. Just shows that 442 can still be the best formation as it allows 2 up top if you have proper all-rounders in the middle. Absolutely cannot be moved away from the centre - I'd defo shift Stevie over to the right at the expense of Kuyt, and keep either N'gog or Babel up top with Torres.

In the following interview about the academy, Borrell states that we should not copy the Barcelona model, but we should be teaching the Liverpool way of playing; our "style and brand of football". Refreshing to hear this, because I don't think we have tried to play in the Liverpool way since Roy Evans left, and although Roy was not very successful I always felt he at least tried to get his teams playing the way a Liverpool team should. Just watching the Sunderland West Ham game now and that CB Tomkins is having a blinder. The last game I saw of WH he also made a few really good tackles. Just got me thinking about how good an indicator of a player it is to be outstanding in a poor team. On the one hand you could argue that it's "best of a bad bunch" syndrome where anyone who performs above average can shine in a team of alehouse players. On the other it's hard to perform anywhere above average in a shit side so it could indicate a depth of character and talent to succeed against the adversity around him. Were by far the better team over the full 90 minutes and fully deserved to win and played football the way Liverpool teams used to play football. I can only dream of a Liverpool team playing football like that and you probably have to go back to Evans days to find it The most telling thing for me was the stats between the 80th and 85th minutes when they had 65% of the possession when they were 2-1 up. I don't keep very close tabs on the Championship and was surprised to see QPR at the top.
