I don't eat meat or fish, but it has to be said that chips with mushy peas, a couple of slices of bread and butter and all washed down with a bottle of cold ale is the business.

You've got to find a good chippy. The batter on the fish is critical - I hate soggy, greasy batter. It should be crisp.

Marigold's in West Kirby does a fine fish and chips.

the chippy's here suck. big time. the portions are tiny they cost a fortune and vinegar... where the hell is it??? i travel 35 miles to my nearest edible chippy each way... freezing if we dont stop and eat them ont he way home...

best chippy, mmmm one near my ex mother in laws... knew there was a reason we stayed close...

You want to be careful there. Some breweries use isinglass, derived from fish swimbladders to clear their ale.

True that. Bloke in a pub told me.

Lobster Pot. One of the best chippy's I've ever been too. My bird's sister is staying with us from Scotland and she's fell in love with the place. Got started on by some bird in the queue the other night as well.

Welcome to Liverpool love!

Whenever I go in, I never order anything that will take more than 2 minutes to get, because its like russian roulette who will come through the door, could be someone you know, could be a nobhead.

Chop suey's are good from there too. Tip - Order your meal (chips, curry, rice obviously) and get a chop suey seperate. Keep the meal covered and eat said suey on train on way home. When you get back the house your meal is still steaming hot, and you sit on the couch watching footy first, smug.
