Bit of a mystery how he could never really replicate his quite remarkable Czech form often enough for us, but yeah, in bursts he looked like a great player.

Probably the best striker we've had since Owen and before Torres, miles better than Cisse IMO.

 

I always thought he could've been developed more because he had a lot of raw ability, he just needed to look up now and again and stop punting the ball.

I also feel that Houllier didn't help Meelans career at Liverpool, he should have got the "head down stuff" out of his system the moment he arrived.

For me Baros has underachieved in club football given his talent. Leverkusen away in 05 always sticks out for me, Garcia scored two but I though Baros was immense that night - lead the line brilliantly, worked his bollocks off and caused havoc in the Bayer defence.

I expected Kuyt to move on this year and he has went backwards to be honest. I remember thinking Baros was going to do the same but after a year or two it becomes obvious that it is not going to happen. Sad when you like a player but sometimes the truth hurts.
