Summer Transfers 2014

I thought that being in the CL was supposed to make us attractive to the "right calibre of players"

Sorry but Samuel fucking mercenary geriatric Eto'o is not the right calibre.

Slowly getting more and more pissed off at the increasing likelihood that our transfer committee has fucked up by letting Suarez go without contingency plans set in place for his leaving.

We start out trying for Sanchez, now days from the season starting, we're scrabbling around looking more and more desperate, to the point where it comes out that we are looking at Eto'o as an option.

We have missed out on top players, what is it fans want the club to do now, overpay for average ones?

A short term option in eto who could do a job is a better idea for me, we then see what's around in jan and next summer plus we will have origi then.

I'd put money on Eto scoring more goals per games for us than Drogba will for Chelsea, Soldardo for Spurs or Welbeck for the mancs. As a short term fix Eto's experience of champions league football could be useful Proven goalscorer and big game player.

Doesn't Sturridge deserve to be our main striker this season? If yes, who do we bring in for big money who is content to sit on the bench?

Spend £10m on a player who is young with potential who can play wide or through the middle and would be happy to learn and develop.

Someone like that Divock Origi at Lille!!

Yes he does, but the diamond formation worked really well last year, so why not sign a striker who can play alongside him as part of a front two, but also do a good enough job replacing him when he inevitably gets injured again.

Would you really be content if we find ourselves with only Etoo or Lambert and possibly Borini for a large part of the season?

The Eto'o of two or three seasons ago, perhaps.

Agreed.  But we probably wouldn't have picked that player up for fuck all.  That's part of the appeal though.  If he stinks the place out we got him for nowt and can fuck him off with no extras next summer.  Probably a load of bollocks anyway.

What if Rodgers wants to go back to 4231 though?

Would give the back four more protection (Gerrard and Can), thus hopefully leading to fewer goals conceded, with three of Sterling, Coutinho, Marvokic, Lallana and Ibe behind the central striker.

That would be disastrous with Gerrard as one of a two. The hodge played that formation in the summer and Gerrard struggled a bit. He needs 2 players infront of him these days (in my view), so we either need to stick to the diamond (but are lacking the necessary strikers now), or move to a 4-3-3. But 4-2-3-1 would see us really struggling.
