https://www.newstalk.com/ have been having champions league memories on for the last few weeks. Last night was David Meyler talking about Madrid last year, he's big mates with Henderson.

Up in a few minutes we have Kevin Kilbane and Leon Osman discussing Villareal.

Friday night special, fella who owns the Istanbul Grill in Leytonstone talking 05 and how busy he was up-until 60 minutes during the match

Kilbane spoke about how good Collina had been in the games for Ireland but he was aloof that night, something was off with him. Collina was the best around and what Kilbane should understand is the first thing you learn as a ref is avoid extra time at all costs, they don't pay you extra for it. It wasn't personal.

You don't have to have played in the Champions League to have Champions League memories, but they have Champions League memories.

Seriously, if we're going to include teams that never got past the qualifying rounds, why aren't they also interviewing players from Kaunas or TNS?

Maybe he’d concluded after the Ireland games that Kilbane was a mascara wearing cunt. Absolutely desperate to push the conspiracy angle...

He’s on a roll at the minute crawling up to the bitters arse is our Kev after saying we shouldn’t be champions via null and void the other week and now this .

Like Trevor Sinclair who seems to have suddenly become a Man City cheerleader even though he played for two other clubs more times in his career Kilbane played for West Brom and Sunderland more times ....Still once you’ve been touched I guess.

If you look at his Wikipedia page at Sunderland he suffered such a dramatic loss of form when there that it became known as “The Curse of Kilbane”

I like the Evertonian logic that we only drew our two finals in 1984 and 2005 so haven't won the trophy outright.

But they fuck up a qualifier but have still played on the Champions League. Weird bunch.

It's just obvious that Liverpool paid off Collina to get extra TV money in the later stages. Liverpool had the bare faced cheek to get in through the back door and defend the trophy they won by playing 3 rounds of qualifiers.

I forgot he also said that decision rocked them as a club, they only won one of 19 league games or something like that , it definitely cost them a top 4 place and more than likely a permanent place at the top table.

Seems funny the way when things go against them it takes them decades to recover, more so than any other club.

Yes, it's hard not to conclude that, had they got past Villarreal, they would have gone on to dominate European football for the next 50 years.

The same happens to Liverpool.  I remember losing the FA Cup final in 1977 and it took us *checks notes* 4 days to recover.

Do your notes tell you how long it took Liverpool to recover from Vincent Kompany's goal against Leicester last season?

Everything is based around....

Ifitadentbinfor....insert shite.

Collins game, we wouldn't have conceded again cos we wouldn't av bin going for another goal.

Used the same argument in 86,

They can't be given the league cos city could still catch them versus we would have won European cup if not banned.

It's all an agenda with no agenda or fuckin logic.

I like the way they moan about Clive Thomas cheating them.out of a period of domination by stopping them reaching an FA Cup final they would probably have lost. They finished 9th in the league and didn't even do anything until 7 years later.

How fucking dare you!!! That game and the subsequent replay stopped them from total dominance in world football, until they would have dominated world football again in the mid eighties. When during the ban they managed to win the league again, which is our fault too?
