Any solution to the Nunez problem is abstract as it stands. There's been no efforts made to build a system to cater to him and he's shown no aptitude for the system that exists so we're all just waiting for something to click that isn't actually happening.

Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Gakpo returns to playing upfront, and Jota is the first attacking sub off the bench again on Sunday.

But, as the video says, the system is being built. The Peacock Suit System, if you will. Worth watching, or reading TD’s paragraphs above.

I'll go give them a read.

On a serious not, that's why it's abstract, we're 'building a system' without him, are we expecting to just get the 10 players up to speed and then drop him in the middle of it because he's not currently playing in it and the version of that system at the moment isn't set up with him in mind.

Dunno if this is mentioned in the video because I can’t be arsed sitting through 18 minutes of two fellas just talking, but a big difference with City is these days they have three or four actual out and out defenders who simply do not lose duels, plus Rodri always plays and he dominates in front of them as well. So they can afford a player who does nothing defensively out of possession.

We can’t afford to have a player like that, we need everyone pressing from the front as soon as we lose it. The 3 box 3 is meant to address that a bit but we don’t have the right defenders for that system. Konate can do it but Van Dijk has dropped off a lot from his peak, Matip and Gomez probably aren’t top four standard in any system any more, and Robertson is a flying left back, not a left centre back.

I’m sure we’ll see if it’s what Klopp has in mind and it could be fun.

Indykaila:

"Chelsea in the last few hours have made enquires on Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez.

We understand #lfc are very relaxed about the situation.

#cfc will need to submit attractive bid for Liverpool to start talks.

The news will break in the national media soon."

We can safely dismiss that one then if he's saying it.

This isn’t true.

But was told in the last couple of days to not be surprised if Chelsea spend close to another £100m before the close of the transfer window.

They've just done best part of 20m today. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Pochettino wants a No9, another defender and another midfielder.

As I said before, I have no fucking idea how they’re financing this but he’s not being told no.

Obviously there’s no guarantee they’ll spend it but they reckon they can.

They'll do well to get the 3 of them for 100m if he wants them to be good. They've bought a nobody kid today for 20m. And we paid 16m for an older fella from a low profile club.

As I said when the Caicedo saga was going on and people didn’t believe me.

They don’t see FFP or profit and sustainability as in issue to their spending.

I agree with everyone it’s dodgy as fuck but it’s not stopping them from still looking at spending.

I just meant more with their spending they've created a market where buying 3 first team players for 100m with one a striker would be almost impossible. The 3 we've bought have cost us more than that and we needed 2 release clauses and a fella nobody wanted in the tail end of his career to buy at those prices.

I completely get that.

I'd really like to see him get some starts in the middle with Diaz on the left and Salah on the right. I think he'll need a good run of games to reach his potential (I think in the right circumstances he could be a world class player) but we have 5 players for those front 3 positions in

Salah

Diaz

Jota

Gakpo

Nunez

I'd give him some starts ahead of Gakpo and Jota for a run of games and see what happens. But we don't know whats happening in training, and if theres a reason he isnt getting picked.
