Yes, but as long as people are still protected from severe disease, even as it mutates, authorities will keep pushing vaccinations very hard. Because as long as almost everyone is protected from severe disease, people can somewhat live their lives, catch Covid, and health systems are still protected at a minimum.

I'm in support of the minor precautionary measures that have been taken while we find out more about this new variant. But, a few bits of news today seem to suggest (not definitely) that the vaccines should still do their job and largely prevent serious illness.

I find the whole narrative taking shape to be sinister. Pressure on the NHS is being blamed not on decades of chronic underfunding, but on the people getting sick.
