Babbel is meant to be a couple of reserve games away from full fitness. The reserves play tonight and next week so there is every chance he may be available for Leeds, or if not the Spurs game.

The 2001 treble year is memorable for many things. Michael Owen's doubles in Cardiff and Rome, Jamie Carragher's winning penalty in the shoot out win over Birmingham, and the incredible night in Dortmund all immediately spring to mind. But the moment which possibly defined the entire season came in a league game at Goodison Park on Easter Monday. Liverpool had led twice through Emile Heskey and Markus Babbel, only to be pegged back by a Duncan Ferguson goal and hotly disputed penalty converted by David Unsworth. Days earlier Leeds had won at Anfield on Good Friday to pull away from the Reds in the race for a Champions League spot, and anything less than a victory at Go…

Liverpool ended a five game winless streak with an impressive 3-1 victory over Tottenham on Thursday evening. The Reds had only scored one goal in their last five league games and had been held scoreless in their last four fixtures. Their superb 68 game unbeaten home record was ended last week by Burnley while they were defeated by bitter rivals Man United in the fourth round of the FA Cup. While that loss was naturally galling, a patch of blue sky emerged in the fact that they looking better in attack with Mo Salah looking exceptionally impressive. With the Red Devils, Leicester and Everton all dropping points during this m…

For those interested ( Forum huns apart Hermes :) ) Ireland under 20's were in a friendly last nite against Paraguay , and both Michael Foley and Darren potter started .the game was dominated by Ireland but paraguay scored on abreakaway and that was the final result Potter twice came close from Long range forcing 2 excellent saves and foley came closest for us ,again with a cracking shot that the keeper just managed to save ..........both were replaced in the second half by Cork city players ( which kept up my interests) Andy reid takes up ALL of the back pages in irish papers this morning again ......and all linking him again with 5 million move to LFC :)

I see Barthez has been banned for three months for spitting at a ref. Surely, according to some, it is to do with his African mentality? ;) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/4472333.stm

Jurgen Klopp has given a glowing tribute to the contribution of Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge as it was announced the duo would be leaving the club this summer. The contracts of the Spain and England internationals have expired and with no renewal forthcoming, they will both move on looking for fresh starts. For a majority of Liverpool fans there would be a deal of relief about their departures, but in typical Klopp fashion he has been effusive in his praise of the pair. The Official site reported the manager as saying: "Alberto is a person whose personality is reflected in how he plays. Full of life, full of energy, always positive. "…
