He has the image of the typical dour Yorkshireman, but in reality James Milner is the master of self deprecating humour. The parody Twitter account 'Boring James Milner' has long been a favourite amongst football fans for its dry wit, but the man himself has produced some classic lines since joining the social media platform last year, which in turn has showed another side to his personality. On Sunday, the man affectionately dubbed by fans as 'Big Games James' stepped up to the mark once again, this time converting a important penalty to seal a 2-0 victory against Cardiff. In the aftermath of the goal, it seemed that Milner was struck by an sudden ailment, quite possibly a …

Following the gooners' defeat at home to Hull, they subsequently went one up tonight against Porto and the classless fucking nobodys start chanting that at the Porto fans. There's hardly a game on TV these days when this gloriously understated and subtle piece of football poetry isn't wheeled out and it makes me vomit. I revel in the fact that I've never heard it at Anfield from our supporters. Where the fuck did it come from? Do we owe thanks entirely to the bellends at Soccer AM for this tremendously witty and eloquent chant filling the country's football stadia, or was it doing the rounds before they got their grubby hands on it? And can anyone remember it being blerte…

Apparently loaned out to Crewe... wonder if he'll ever get a chance of first team footy in Liverpool...? Article from .tv DEFENDER LEAVES ON LOAN Paul Eaton 30 September 2004 Liverpool defender Jon Otsemobor has agreed a one month loan deal with Championship outfit Crewe Alexandra. The 21 year old defender has failed to break through into Rafael Benitez's first team plans this season and will now spend the next four weeks at Gresty Road. Otsemobor, who spent time with Bolton Wanderers last season, has made six appearances during his Liverpool career so far and has been a regular member of the reserve side. He could make his Crewe debut again…

The response from our fans given to that particular H&W chant today was absolutely cringetastic. I was so fucking embarrassed by the team's performance but this has got to fucking stop. I hope some people will be having words with themselves as they go to bed tonight reflecting on the events of the day.

"One day we will beat Manchester United, I promise you that." Those were the immortal words from Gerard Houllier after a gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils at Old Trafford in January of 1999. Houllier was never a manager chasing headlines with the way he spoke, but the Frenchman saw something in the team he had taken sole ownership over just a few months before after initially sharing the role with Roy Evans. It had been close to ten years of misery when playing at the home of Liverpool's arch rival and the last minute loss in the fourth round FA Cup clash felt like it was a tipping point. Fast forward nearly two years later t…

Liverpool survived a evening full of nerves and frustration with a crucial 1-0 win against Napoli which secures their path through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.A piece of Mo Salah individual brilliance was the difference when he broke away from the close checking of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to slot the ball past David Ospina (who is on loan to the Italian side from Arsenal) in the 34th minute. While the goal was obviously a key moment, without the point blank save by Alisson from Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik in injury time, the Reds would be plying their trade on Thursday nights in the Europa League come the second half of the season.T…

Just read this on Reuters, sounds interesting to say the least, but so did Diouf ?!?!?! Julio Bapista - A Beast to replace a Crow. Ron Litterman With constant murmerings in the local and national press regarding 'Gerrards imminent departure' an undue weight has been placed on Liverpool Coach Raphael Benitez to find a replacement for the Engine-roomed Captain. Benitez has already bought well this summer with the excellant playmaker Xabi Alonso from Real Sociedad. But the Basque represents differing qualities to the Liverpool born midfielder. Liverpool fans might be happy or confused (depending on knowledge of the reader) that Sevilla's Brazilian Julio …

I thnk we're all starved of information, about him, about transfer targets, about which players will be kept on, so it's helpful to have something, anything, to work with and discuss. Considering how high profile we are as a club, this has been the most low key I can remember a managerial appointment at a top club in terms of what we know about him and what to expect from him. But he has an aura about him, if I was in a room with him and he talked then I would listen. He has that ability to command respect, to command and hold your attention. It's a rare quality, I can't say the same about many other people, let lone managers. So let's get to know what makes…

From the offal. Javier Mascherano, Rafa's latest signing, today spoke to liverpoolfc.tv about his desire to prove himself in English football, his debt of gratitude to the boss and how he doesn't regret moving to West Ham in the summer. Mascherano, Javier Javier, how are you settling in? Good, good. I'm very happy here and things are going great so far. All the players have been helping me to settle in, which is nice to see. They've all been welcoming, which has made my transition to Liverpool really easy. The fact we had some time away last week was great. I think it was a good exercise for everyone. It certainly helped me to bond with my teammat…

There's a programme on the Liverpool channel now about who we hate more out of the mongrels and the manc shite, with ex-players and people phoning in to give their two bob's worth. And its a live programme that's on for two hours! I reckon this is making us look small-time. We go on about the bitters being obsessed and then dedicate the night's main programme on our channel to how much we hate them. I know its because of Sunday but it's still fucking pathetic, especially when they're reading out posts from the offal's forum (where the real fans are :wallbutt:). Get this shite off and put the OT Danny Murphy game on a continuous loop until Sunday.

Interesting article from Alexi Lalas, he really doesn't like the British press going on about his league does he. But a good read nonetheless (not about beckham, but the wider subject of leagues etc).

I was reading this article today Liverpool should be title favourites, no matter what Sir Alex Ferguson says - Telegraph Blogs where kelly lays into bacon face over his dismissal of our chances. Im surprised to read the comment that for the last 20 seasons, our fans have been saying 'this is our season' to win the title. Have we? OK, all clubs have their nutters who think they win the title but these are such a minority, they can safely be ignored as not representing the main concensus of opinion. And yet, time after time on teletext, talkshyte, 606, you're on slysports etc, fans of other clubs particularly arse, the chavs and filth, claim Liverpool fans have …

Now this is a phrase we have heard for a while. First with Owen and Gerrard, but recently over the years with Torres and Gerrard. However in reality last season we challenged for the league with these two playing very few games together. It was players such as Benayoun and Kuyt who really stepped up and showed why they are at the club and helped us challenge for the league, who got 20 league goals between them, which is a superb return and as productive as any combination of wide players in the league. It was great to see Kuyt and Benayoun back on top form yesterday, as I really think they are key players in this Liverpool team. Riera is not as productive as…

Just put together a new 32 page booklet of poems full of funny stories and personal memories from the Kop. It also contains loads of facts, figures, stats, colour/ B/W pics etc. Some of the subjects are the Inter night froze and were taken apart in 65, the amazing 3-0 game against Auxerre (in front of a half empty Kop!) Boys Pen stuff, Dr Fun, Kop Choir L.P, The Kop 'Drone' (remember it?) the Grimsby 'fishing names' night etc etc. The last game against Norwich and tributes to the 96 are of course also covered. Opposing goalies crop up a bit as well, Banks, Sprake, Jennings, Gordon West (the hand bags:D ) The book also tells how I bunked into a deserted Kop a…

'We don't take fans for granted' - Liverpool FC Supporters attending our first home game of the new league season won't just see some noticeable changes in the dugout and on the pitch; they'll also see plenty of changes off it. These changes all form part of a series of improvements being made by the club's Customer Experience Department. Set up at the beginning of the 2009-10 season, the department is solely responsible for improving your off-the-pitch experience of Liverpool Football Club and whether you're a season ticket holder from Anfield, someone who can only make it to a few games a year or even a fan from a far flung place whose only interaction wi…
