  1. I've got no problem with people not liking Corbyn or even hurling insults at him, I just think accusing people of racism and antisemitism without justification is disgusting, it's probably only one step away from accusing people of paedophilia. Racism is such a slur in our society that we can think of lots of people who've never worked again in the public eye when they've become embroiled in it. There's no coming back from it unlike a lot of other transgressions. Think about how you'd feel. If someone called you a cunt, or thick, or full of shit you'd probably take it on the chin- but if someone accused you, baselessly, of being racist or antisemitic, I guarantee you'd fly off the fucking handle- and you'd be right to do so. People, especially Jewish people, throwing the word around so carelessly, often to push an agenda, debase themselves and sully the memory of all those who died in the holocaust or have ever been the genuine victim of such abuse. Seriously. Imagine how you'd feel having survived Auschwitz and then seen an absolute twat like Sugar (himself no stranger to displays of racism) casually tweeting images of Corbyn and Hitler just to push an agenda? These people are disgusting, and a disgrace, and they've done FAR more damage to the memory of those who suffered and continue to suffer than Corbyn ever has.

  2. Haven't checked the thread for a while, my, my, this picture is just horrible, in every facet. The duck egg 70's plate with gold trim is particularly disturbing, it looks like an atmospheric death row diner meal, although if it were mine I'd put all them pancakes on my head and get under the leccy chair rather than eat it.

  3. This is a board games collection! I have all sorts in here, from silly games like Fluxx (simple card game with changing rules) and Flick 'Em Up (a Western themed dexterity game where you flick wooden bullets at each other) to serious heavy, worker-placement games like Russian Railroads (building train lines) and Spirit Island (defend your home from invaders). I fucking love games, me.

  5. I think another problem is that some of the second string are totally unsuited to the style we play. In particular, we play every week with a fast, fluid forward line and everything is built round this from the midfield set-up to the way we play out from the back. And then along come Sturridge and Origi. We play with fast overlapping full backs who keep the width and hold onto the ball allowing Salah or Mane to go where they want. Only TAA, Gomez and Robertson can do this. It's only in midfield that we have a pool of players to rotate.

  6. BBC were soooooo pissed off with us last night, turning their big showpiece of the 3rd round weekend into a couldn't-care-less shitfest, instead of a classic, thrilling cup tie. The commentary team just dripped with negativity towards us, especially Jenas. The laughable/annoying bit was how they bigged up the Wolves performance. they were just as shit as us, with less excuse. Imaging picking your near-strongest line-up and only having THREE shots on target against the defence we had out. If the situation had been reversed, and we'd been that cautious/feeble against a young reserve winger, a 16yr old, a midfielder and Moreno, we'd have been going spare. A reflection of how little we cared about this - by design, or just poor attitude - was that only TWO fouls were given against us all night.

  7. I'd rather see him in midfield and we buy another defender and prove we are serious about the league title.

  8. This. The really scary lack of cover is at left-back, where we have an ageing right-footed midfielder and a shit-flinging chimp as cover for Robbo.

  9. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the domestic cups. They're a distraction until the final itself and even then it's a day out for the fans. When we won the League cup in 2012 we were ushering in a new era of dominance instead we signed Charlie Adams. When Wigan and Portsmouth won this they near went bust in the following seasons. Arsenal have stood still or gone backwards even though they have 4 or so wins of the last 7. Chelsea last year were out of the top 4 so had to do something. Winning the FA Cup is a sign of nothing. I give no fucks about it and I'm glad Klopp sees it that way too. The BBC cry-arsing about the competition's supposed importance won't make me change my mind either.

  10. We definitely need a centre back. Beyond fucking stupid letting clyne go when he is solid reliable cover at right back. Do not want to end up with gomez right back and fabinho at centre back condemning us to a midfield trio of gini, Henderson and Milner.

  16. I dug out my deck of Fantasy Top Trumps which, as any rational person will know, was the zenith of Top Trumps back in the early '90s. You had this deck, you were it. It's still shit-hot. Though I read that not every deck had the Demon card and if you have the deck with him in it (which mine does) then it's worth about £40-£50. Which is a moot point because I never sell my old stuff.

  17. As always, whether or not this is a good thing will only be proven in the next few weeks and months. If we finally end our 29-year yearning for the league title then I genuinely couldn't give the remotest fuck about last night - in fact if we have a warm weather training break and go on a run after that then I'll even be pleased about it. If we fuck up though then it feels like a wasted opportunity. Thought most of the youngsters did well (Hoever was excellent and Camacho was raw but full of energy and his touch was first class) or at least didn't look completely out of place at worst - Curtis Jones was pretty anonymous but he had absolute horror shows behind him and beside him in Moreno and Sturridge. Those two - along with Origi (took his goal well but just doesn't seem to do anything other than offer a minor goal threat), Keita and Mignolet were the biggest disappointments: this could have been an opportunity for them to play into some sort of contention but they just didn't look any better than reserves. Shaqiri and Milner were below par but I'm prepared to accept that it's difficult to shine in such an ad-hoc team - I suppose the same extends to all of them but those two get the benefit of the doubt after some excellent displays alongside the main first team. Final word to Wolves fans - that's twice we've played them in recent weeks and they've been utter small-time, parochial, slack-jawed, Soccer Saturday-copying fucking cunts both times. Their team and manager seem to be really professional and likeable but they can take their sign on chants back into their backwater fucking town and fuck off down the leagues with their bent fucking agent mate with them*. *Unless they do us another favour and take points off City at the weekend, in which case I'll join them all in a Wetherspoons of their choosing and we can all sing Hi Ho Silver Lining or whatever.

  18. Surely there is no one left who doesn't acknowledge that we need a CB on loan at the very least? We just had to play a 16 year old out of position last night. People talk about short term solutions but a makeshift out of position defence that then reduces options in midfield is a far worse solution. We are trying to win the fucking league!

  19. Call me old fashioned, call me an hysterical fanny, point out how the cup 'means fuck all' etc etc etc...but.... I fucking hate the fact that Wolves fucking Wolves the nomarks wanted it more than us. That their nomark manager wanted it more. That their players wanted it more and their fans wanted it more as well. Maybe going out is a blessing and best for us long term....But I can never quite buy into the mentality that potential trophies are a bad thing. Maybe I am old fashioned and outdated but I grew up in an era where trophies were everything....where as a fan days out at Wembley or even the semis on neutral grounds were massive and highlights of the season following the boys. That's how we built up our history, a history that is the envy of so many other clubs and is such a source of pride to us.... Tonight hurts me - seeing our great club dumped out of the cup at the first hurdle... Hopefully in May we will be able to look back and say how it was all worth it, but tonight it just feels shite....proper shite. I do get the counter argument to how i feel - but i just can't buy into it fully....this football club is bigger and better than being fucked out of the cup at the first hurdle and fucked out seemingly not giving a fuck. We have won two fucking trophies since 2005 for fucks sake...the worst return in our modern history - surely we shouldn't be jibbing off the cup - is it really impossible to put in a decent challenge for it and for the title/europe?

  20. Not many but our ambitions should be matching those of our peers. City, Chelsea and Tottenham still in all competitions. We haven't won a trophy for 7 years and after dropping out of two very winnable cups at the first hurdle we've suddenly got everything riding on the big ones yet again. I still think we've got every chance of holding our lead over City and are a contender in the CL as well, but I think another trophyless year would be far more damaging than people realise. A League or FA cup might not be glamorous but it would've got the ball rolling at least if we don't end up winning the other competitions, and give the big players some reward for their hard work. It shouldn't be a case of needing to throw these to have a shot at the higher profile cups.

  23. Iceman did inbox me and ask me to swerve his and start this. Back to winning ways please Reds. I reckon we will see Fabinho next to VVD which will be interesting. Fabinho was very good last night. Got rid , none of this fancy stuff. Growing into a very good asset for us him. Fail to win here and we are all of a sudden in a bit of a mess so a complete attacking performance needed. These are shite anyway so pit them to be asap. Settle the nerves and get back into the groove. Keeper, back 4 (with Fabinho) and front 3 pick themselves. In the middle I'd go Wijnaldum, Keita (key him playing even though he was shit last night) Henderson in the middle. Could even see him playing Lallana over Henderson. What Henderson lacks in end product, he makes up in energy and we will need that on Saturday. Shaqiri on the bench for playing more like Shakira last night apart from his free-kick. Into these Reds * * In purely footballing terms

  24. Report by Dave Usher First off, I really wanted us to win this game. Not because I’m arsed about the FA Cup this year, but because I just wanted us to win. I always want us to win and it would have been a real positive to win a game without hardly any of the regulars. Additionally it would have given us another opportunity to play some of the kids in the next round. Because make no mistake, I wouldn’t have wanted any of the starters playing. Not while we’re still in a title race. But we didn’t win and the truth is I won’t lose a second’s sleep over not being in the next round. Some will call that disrespecting the FA Cup or being a sky generation fan. That’s fine. Call it what you like. Presumably those who were so desperate to win the FA Cup feel Jurgen should have taken it more seriously and gone with a stronger side? Is he disrespecting the cup too? Personally I’d call it prioritising and being sensible, and if I were to criticise him for his selection (which I’m not) it’s that he didn’t go far enough and it cost us a starter for the weekend. In fairness to Klopp his options for resting players were limited due to injuries to both of the under 23s most experienced centre backs, and had Masterson and/or Phillips been fit then certainly Lovren and perhaps even Fabinho would have been given the night off too. Not everyone will agree with him but as far as I’m concerned his approach to the game was fully vindicated based on what happened with Lovren, who limped off with a hamstring injury after two minutes. Klopp didn’t want to play him but felt like he had no choice, and now he’s injured. Yeah, joke all you like about how “it’s only Lovren” or “at least it wasn’t anyone important” but we’re down to the bare bones at that position and this shows exactly why I didn’t want any first team players involved in the cup. Not this year. When one day we finally get that monkey off our backs and win the league, that changes everything, but now? This year? We’re better off out of it, with Klopp able to take his squad away for some warm weather training to prepare for league games while City and Spurs juggle cup commitments. Of course we need to win something but we’re in an exceptional situation here. We couldn’t be in a better position at this stage of the season to win the title, and we’re still in the Champions League. If ‘taking the cup seriously’ puts that even the tiniest bit at risk then for me it’s not worth it. 30. I think he looks tentative. The strong impression I had in the games at the start of the season was that he had deliberately reined in his aggression to avoid getting a shit load of red cards (which he kept getting last season). It may have meant he was playing within himself generally. I also had the impression that he was deliberately passing when his instinct said 'shoot'. If any of that is accurate (and not just my supposition) then he may just have to be told to be himself in the next few games. Last night he reminded me of a (less lazy and flashy) Pogba from a couple of months ago. Put 2 defensive midfielders behind him at home and tell him just to attack and he could look excellent. Unfortunately for him, Shaqiri is ahead of him in that position and when we play 4-2-3-1 Firmino occupies that space. Not sure what to expect from him next.

  33. I get people would love Zeppelin more than The Who , fuck I love Zeppelin but to come out with comments like this or not even in the same league really is totally ridiculous and shows a total lack of musical knowledge . The Who were one of the greatest and arguably the most influential band this country has ever produced from punk to heavy metal they have been a major influence on bands ranging from The Pistols to The Clash through to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Weller, Johnny Marr and Oasis. Throw in a shit load of classics which when you consider they only released nine studio albums the last two or three of which were shite then it's pretty impressive....(Oh and the best live LP ever) The sad thing is The Orrible Oo are more appreciated in the States than over here....Although looking at the kip of the people in this country I think that's a badge of honour.

  38. I would totally agree with you... except the Cup no longer remotely resembles what the competition used to be like - bar the trophy itself. The epitome of its shitness these days is that getting to the final at Wembley isn't even special, because you play the semi there now too. The semi finals in the old days where huge unique events in themselves - Hillsborough, Villa Park etc I'm gutted we lost today, but sadly this ain't the Cup it once was. Compare my heart break walking out of Villa Park in 1990 after Palace... and this Wolves game was a pre-season friendly.

  41. Coyle on the mark as U23s earn Tottenham draw Liam Coyle was on the mark as Liverpool U23s played out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2 encounter at Stevenage on Monday night, writes Steve Hunter. With a number of regulars in action for the first XI at Wolves such as Curtis Jones, Rafael Camacho and Ki-Jana Hoever, Neil Critchley fielded a young side with Bobby Duncan making his first start at U23 level in attack. There was also the welcome return to action of Connor Randall, who has been sidelined since September with a fractured cheekbone. After a goalless opening half, the home side took the lead on 49 minutes through Kazaiah Sterling. However, Critchley’s side gave a good account of themselves and deservedly levelled on 65 minutes courtesy of Coyle’s fine effort from outside the box. Reflecting on the draw, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was an even first half with not many clear-cut chances. In the second half at times we had to defend in numbers and show our resilience which we did. Our honesty and endeavour was brilliant and that was very pleasing.” Liverpool U23s: McKenzie-Lyle, N Williams, Juanma, Masterson, Johnston, Whelan, Coyle (R Williams, 83), Randall, Millar, Chirivella, Duncan (McAuley, 65). https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/academy/333255-coyle-on-the-mark-as-u23s-earn-tottenham-draw
