It's like what happened under trump, when all standards are dropped it's pretty much open season, with pretty scary consequences.

Thankfully though, Johnson doesn't have a mob of Qanon type loyalists, which is heartening I suppose.

The narrative is that the rules were a bit silly,is staggering considering the millions of pounds which were handed out in fines.

The fact that they are being allowed to even spout this, is again again jaw dropping.

He's very boisterous today the shameless cunt

He knows he is getting away with.it.

Once again I'm torn.

There is no doubt the millions of forlock tuggers swallow their bullshit but this has massively damaged them.

And he is an utter car crash. It will only be a matter of time before he gets embroiled in another scandal.

Get rid of him now and they will sell it as new start.

Yep I've long said he will be the sacrificial lamb when the time suits them. He can't get away with this though, it's gone too far and to stand there saying people don't care about it all and it's not important is just shitting in our hands and forcing us to clap.

Look at benches behind him, packed and cheering his every word. No way he will lose a no confidence vote. Cummings has tried a long distance head shot and missed. Rishi will be all over the media this weekend pledging his loyalty.

Agreed, however I believe if the polls showed the tory's 15+ down he'd be gone but as it is they show he's still well in the game,

7th worst death toll in the world

Car crash after crash

Lies about breaking rules he himself set

PM investigated by the police

Bribery and racism investigations

Cost of living going through the roof

And they still get 32%of the vote.

This country is well and truly fucked.

This is what pisses me off about the whole thing. It's nothing to do with whether Johnson has broken the ministerial code, the law or anything ethical or moral. It's purely whether the Tory party wants to keep him or not.

Hopefully Cummings has got more in his locker.

Johnson is Teflon though, it's incredible what the British public will put up with.

Remember when Corbyn was raked over the coals for not having a smart designer suit? Johnson is a scruffy cunt who hasn't brushed his hair since Shakin Stevens was in the charts.

Ian Blackford should have walked across the floor put the cunt in a full Nelson and marched him out of the commons saying he's conducting a citizens arrest.

The problem with that scenario is that the fat wind-bag would spend so long telling everybody what he was going to do, whilst smelling his own farts, that the greased pig would have scarpered by the time he finished speaking. If you want an SNP to do the citizen's arrest then Pete Wishart looks like he would enjoy a punch-up.

By the way, Ian Hislop is good entertainment in the Commons select commitee, though the savage way he beats up Bernard Jenkin should have the League Against Cruel Sports intervening.

More scandal. He lied when asked if he had intervened to get people out of Afghanistan. Emails have been leaked from the foreign office contradicting him.

Something else he is on record as denying

That blister at pmq was utter bollocks

We are lowering taxes

They are going up you lying cunt.

I don't know why people on here are convinced that Johnson's home free. Are you taken in by his apparently (I didn't watch it) bravado performance in PMQs, and the braying pack behind him?

We've still got Gray's report to come imminently, never mind the Met investigation down the road, and I wouldn't go looking at Johnson's demeanour today as any indicator as to how he comes across in that.

I strongly suspect the support he has at this point is largely due to there being no clear successor. But what if that changes and one comes forward? Someone, Rishi perhaps, is obviously orchestrating events with Cummings. Are they going to just pack up and go home at this point?

And only a fool would think that Cummings is done.

Then there's the news about him lying, again, regards the pet-saving operation in Afghanistan.

Even if he survives in the short term, that would only be good for Johnson and his tribalistic supporters. The Tory party will suffer in the polls as long as he's leader. Death by a thousand cuts.

He's found the cheat code for politics. Fuck up, lie, lie some more, keep lying, then finally say "we've moved on". Repeat ad infinitum.

The entire system is based around the pm at.least pretending to be a decent human being.

Johnson has totally shown this to be the sham that it is.

On my part, just a guess.  I don't care either way, as I don't have any investment in left/right politics.

I doubt he'll face criminal charges and I think all of this will blow over.  In a few weeks, something else will dominate the news cycle such as Ukraine or a new variant etc. This is just a mildly entertaining sideshow, like Bouncer's dream in Neighbours.

Serious question for folks on here who understand this stuff...

...is it usual for the speaker to make threats and not follow through?

He did it twice today. First, when he threatened to boot out anyone who prevented him hearing a question...only for him to complain that he couldn't here one of the subsequent questions.

He did it again when that Labour fella continued the 'liar' point when he was asked not to.
