From Wembley to the Boleyn Ground in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund.

Fair play to the wee scrote. Anyone who is there on Sunday should give him a good reception - and drop a couple of quid in any collection buckets. (And if you're not going to the match, there's always his JustGiving page.

Youngster to walk from Wembley to West Ham in aid of Bobby Moore Fund.

Schoolboy Jonjo Heuerman kicks off a fundraising challenge this week from the home of English football.

Nine-year-old Jonjo is undertaking a three-day, 23-mile walk across London from Wembley Stadium to West Ham United’s ground, Upton Park, to raise money for one of The FA Group’s long term charity partners, the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Blowing the whistle to start him on his way from Wembley will be footballing legend and FA Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking and World Cup hero Bobby Moore’s widow Stephanie.

Jonjo will start from the Bobby Moore statue at Wembley on Friday and arrive in the centre circle at Upton Park in front of 36,000 fans just before the kick off against Liverpool on Sunday 27 February.

The youngster is undertaking the walk in memory of his beloved nanny Lynda Heuerman and Bobby Moore, who both died from bowel cancer. Jonjo, from Wilmington, near Dartford, Kent, is an avid West Ham supporter, Bobby’s club for ten years.

Sir Trevor Brooking, Director of Football for The Football Association, said: “It’s great to see a little lad like Jonjo taking on a challenge like this in memory of his Nan and one of our national heroes and of course raising money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, an official FA Charity Partner. I wish him and his family all the best on his walk and look forward to seeing him greeted by the fans at Upton Park on Sunday.”

Stephanie Moore, who founded the Bobby Moore Fund in memory of her husband after his death in 1993, said: “Supporters of the Bobby Moore Fund come in all shapes and sizes and although Jonjo is very young, he has taken on a huge challenge.

“He and his family have done a great job in organising this walk, raising vital funds for further research and increasing public awareness about bowel cancer.

“Jonjo is a great inspiration and I’m sure his Nan, particularly, would be very proud of him.”

Jonjo will be accompanied on the walk by his dad Gary, mum Donna and sister Megan. On the final day, they will be joined by up to 200 fans and other walkers, including Pearly Kings and Queens, before laying a wreath at the Bobby Moore statue at Upton Park.
