I honestly think the Arctic Monkeys are the most overrated band in history.

I watched their Glastonbury set a year after they hit the big time on telly and they looked like they smashed it, reviews from people there agreed. Saw them at Reading in 2009 and they were shite. Well, probably not shite but they went on after the Prodigy and anyone would be after them.

London Calling and then Leftism, which I have never heard before and was surprisingly enjoyable. It slightly edged Arctic Monkeys, when applying my what-would-I-play-again-sooner rule. Pet Sounds was a bit too obvious a choice at this stage.

Pet Sounds and Leftism, both superb albums. London Calling (like so many double albums) would have benefitted from a bit of editing down to a brilliant single album, and I honestly think the Arctic Monkeys are the most overrated band in history.

Really? I always thought London Calling was held in such high regard because there were hardly any fillers. What would you leave out?

That Arctic Monkeys album was so fucking great when it landed. Brilliant album, amongst the poserish dreck the indie scene was at the time it was such a breath of fresh air. Before they in turn disappeared up their own arses.

Anyways, the answer is still, obviously, Pet Sounds and London Calling.
