A record-extending 10th League Cup trophy means an update on the Champions Wall, but more importantly, the way this group went about their task today is absolutely phenomenal. Who cares that Chelsea shit the bed in extra time, I'm more concerned about what our lads do.

 

We were already without at least half a dozen first choice players, and one of the few with some first team experience at a high level was crocked in the first half. And yet we were the ones with our tails up in extra time. Of course we were a tad disjointed, which you would expect with our combination of inexperience and Jurgen having to make in-game adjustments.

 

This final is about Bradley, Quansah, Elliott, Clark and McConnell. Heroes one and all.

This Chelsea side are complete losers but I still dont know how we were so dominant in extra time with that team out. Crazy. I thought we would be hanging on for pens. 

 

Putting the kids on may have been the thing that led us to victory against a midfield that had been playing the whole game.

I was thinking halfway through extra time that even if we went on to lose it would still be a performance to be really proud of. They had so many excuses not to win the game - yet another injury early on when they were already down to the bare bones, every little decision going against them in the game, already having 1 winning goal scandalously ruled out - and yet they just kept going and found a way to win. They rode their luck a bit in the final 10 minutes of normal time, but other than that spell were by far the better team throughout and were fully deserved winners. Everyone was outstanding, but special mentions for Kelleher, Konate and van Dijk.
