Esther McVey will be minister without portfolio within the Cabinet Office. She will attend cabinet though won't be a full cabinet member. Her role will be to represent Rishi Sunak's government on TV and radio as much as possible, and to speak what he sees as "common sense" on all those gender, culture and British colonial history issues that she is vocal about, as a so-called "blue collar" Tory. The Tory populist right is being asked to trade in Braverman for McVey.

Feels like a desperate way to make them more electable. I hope it doesn't work.

How can the shadow FC hold him to account if he's not allowed in the House?

Hoyle may just be paying lip service to the idea but it seems like they're exploring a way of changing that.
