Surely VAR can make it 100% sure, to remove the 'easy' decision thing, he is prattling on about.

It actually shows what a farce VAR is. Refs don't give it because they need to have a higher degree of certainty than outside the box. And if it goes to VAR, they don't judge is it a pen or not, they judge if it a "clear and obvious" mistake, whatever the fuck that means. So it allows the VAR to put the bar wherever they want. And they also don't want to give a pen in the last minute, because as carragher says it wins and loses games. So what we end up with is a situation where unless the ref wants to give a big decision, he won't. And if he does, like the one in the manc derby, the VAR will find a way. The whole thing is a farce. VAR just has to be dumped, it brings nothing and at least puts pressure on the referee to make some calls, instead of feeling he can fall back to VAR..

We seem to be allowing the referees to live in a world where they're allowed to give decisions based on what they want to give and alter their decision making depending on where it happens on the pitch and what the clock says at the time. Instead of accepting a foul is a foul. Like the ederson incident yesterday. Put a sky blue shirt on him and that's a red card every single time, it was every bit as bad a challenge as the one mcginn was sent off with earlier in the day, that absolutely everyone agreed was a red. Put a keepers shirt on, it seems dangerous takes on a whole new meaning.

Agreed.

To quote an Americanism from WW2, VAR is SNAFU.

I expect it from Shay Given, but Carrragher, McManaman and Owen all saying no pen is a disgrace.

And all this high bar stuff is bullshit, penalties are given for fuck all these days. Take your pick from hundreds of examples

Weirdly they're more comfortable to make decisions that rule-out goals than give them.

The whole system is designed to rule-out goals. Every goal goes to VAR; higher bar for foul play in the box; striker can't accidentally handle it, but a defender can. It has not made the game better.

Spot the two outliers on here. Average pay of highest paid directors across the PL outside of the sportswashers (and Chelsea although that's from their mental accounts year when they were sold) is £1.4m a year. But City's all work for free, and Newcastle's are all paid less than £7k per year.

Seems legit.

There aren’t any trophies emblazoned on that bus.

There’s a reason why Sven had a day at Anfield and not at the emptyhad this weekend

He’s a Liverpool supporter.

It’s also at the Emptyhad and not Kirkby, I don’t think it’s the actual photo.

Also, I think you’ve missed the joke on Sven.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports after the game, Keane said of Haaland: "The levels of his general play is so poor, and not just today. His general play for such a player, it is so poor, I think he has to improve that, he's almost like a League Two player."
