Man City - the new bitters?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen the bitterness in the bluemoon forums? I stumbled across it yesterday. What the fk is wrong with them? As far as I'm concerned they aren't even our rivals. Look at this thread: https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/liverpool-2018-19.335013/page-283

Embarrassing.

Yeah, I noted it a month or two ago. Horrible little fuckers. The oil money has gone to their head. Small club, big money.

City used to be a decent group of supporters before the money and success affected them. I used to go to Maine Road occasionally when I was at university over there.

Sadly a significant proportion of their support has changed in a relatively short space of time. You'd think they'd remember it wasn't that long ago they were knocking around league one?

I'd suggest it's new money looking to establish a non existent rivalry plus they now view us as a threat.

Is "buswrecker" the new "wallpusher"?  Dribbling idiots.

Shame as the City fans I know have always been sound to chat football with.

As are many bitters . All clubs have a sizeable minority of deluded bellends gobbing off.

They really are. Some of the vile they come out is fucking disgusting. The thing is I just don't understand why - we have no beef with them.

You'd think they'd be more concerned with Utd. Obviously see us as more of a threat, plus embarrassing them in the CL last season must be still hurting

Couldn't care less about them as a club to be honest. They are a small club by tradition and are pretty irrelevant beyond their current spending power. Like Everton they're defined more by what they're not rather than what they are - I.e their more successful neighbours.

That being said I've no great problem with them as a club. The few city fans I've known (older city fans it has to be said) are pretty sound.

Rule number one in England is hate scousers and obviously this equates to hate LFC. I read a lot of other forums and we are easily the most disliked club in the country on all of them. On arsenal forums plenty of their fans say they would happily see Spurs beat us and vice versa. Same on United and city forums.

The strangest thing is that the majority of these cunts on the city, United and Chelsea forums have never set foot in the country never mind their home ground. It’s like to fit in they know it’s the in thing to come out with all the old tired cliches about scousers despite the fact they’ve probably never met one.

It's a big jealousy thing. Wherever you go in Britain birds love Scousers and the blokes are shit scared unless there's a few of them. Go anywhere in the world and most people from places like st Helens and widn es when asked to describe where they're from will say 'near Liverpool'.

Fucking hell.

Hard to say what they are now. Everton with more money, or United with less history.

I always find it funny when they bring up the European ban, they weren't even in division one for most of it let alone being near a European spot. That would be like it happening today and Aston Villa kicking off about it.

Easily Everton with more money. Even with their riches and recent success, they still have that ridiculous chip on their shoulder that comes from being the shite club in their city.

Go anywhere in this country and there’s always a sizeable minority of dick-heads, who for no apparent reason, dislike Scousers. Years of people being brainwashed by right wing media. It’s especially baffling in working class areas, but won’t change unless the working class, stop reading right wing news.

Most birds love the scouse accent, who's ever said they like the manc accent? They sound like Sean Bean after he's had a car accident and is being taught how to speak again.

I can vouch for the birds love scousers thing. Joined he navy at 17 and was a manager in a call centre for most of my 20's. Surprised I still have a cock to be honest. I've got two heads and look like toadfish off neighbours apparently. If I was a brummie I would still be a virgin.

    • Trent Alexander-Arnold said that resilience is the key element that has made Liverpool reach the next level.

When you are looking to achieve the ultimate prize as a team and developing your game on a personal level, there are bound to be some bumps along the way.

The Reds have certainly suffered their share of heartbreak in the past few years, firstly in the Champions League final to Real Madrid in 2018, and then falling agonisingly close to ending the long title drought last season.

But the old adage that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger would be something that Alexander-Arnold abides to.

The Official site (via Premier League Productions) reported the Right-back as saying:

“The players that we have in our side have all had failures before, we’ve all had setbacks and knockbacks.

“We’ve really bounced back from there and got to where we are now and where we are as a team.

“The biggest example of that is probably the fact that we lost the Champions League final the season before and were able to use that as motivation to get back there and win it the next season.

“It’s something a lot of teams aren’t capable of, but we’ve showed that we are and we’re able to get better from disappointment.”

The evergreen James Milner also related a story in the lead-up to the unforgettable Champions League semi-final triumph against Barcelona that speaks along the same lines.

"I think the first game wasn't a fair result of the game but football isn't fair at times and when you've got that guy [Messi] on the other team it's very hard to run as fast as you can as well with your legs closed as I found out. He can make you look stupid.

“We had to pick ourselves up from that first leg - we had Newcastle away at the weekend going for the league, it was a tough game, they fought all the way and we scored late, hoping Manchester City would drop points in the next game then Vinnie [Vincent Kompany] scores a once in a lifetime slice into the top corner so we have to pick ourselves up again against all the odds really.

"It was one of those special nights at Anfield, the atmosphere was unbelievable and set the tone at the kick-off.

“Put all that together with what had happened a few days before, the Newcastle game, the defeat and having to pick ourselves up within six days says a lot about the club and the fans as well but the team and the character within it."

Another prime example of the resilience is how they have begun the new league season.

It has been a common trait of previous Liverpool sides in the last 10-15 years to have a big dip in form after coming so close and you only have to look at 2009/10 and 2014/5 for proof of that.

But this squad is on a mission, it is certainly not satisfied with what has achieved so far and wants to be the best it can be.

While there is a awful lot of water to go under the bridge, as a fan you just have to be awfully proud about what we have become, and what we aspire to be.

    • Was fortunate to watch the game live last week when in the Rockies. Was discussing the game as we were driving through the hills and the slide rule pass Milner had sent through to Mane.   Was made up to pass this sign mid-conversation!    I think the icons explain the pass: * Continental Divide in class * Mane stood next to defender. * Pass allowed Mane to stroll away from the defender and be 500ft clear in no time * Kodak moment.
    • It’s maddening how we consistently play so badly there, our players touch goes to shit, people taking two or three two many touches, lofted shite aimless balls. Our front 3 have been consistently brutal there. We have nothing to fear here, they’re absolutely hopeless and it absolutely turmoil. Need front 3 to deliver here and ensure Trent and Robbo see as much as ball as possible and we’ll beat these. If we can score in first 30 I expect us to win comfortably, they will implode.
