southampton are talking about spending £16m on Lazio centre back Wesley Hoedt. Perhaps we should just bid £17m for this lad and really brain fuck the southampton fans?

Could save ourselves a shitload of money when we rock up in 2 years time wanting to buy him off them?

I don't think it's the ideal way to buy players, but this is when you use the media to your advantage. You release noise that you're in for him, maybe push the price up a bit, maybe even contact the club. Southampton are then under pressure.

If Barcelona signed Coutinho this season and then came back for Mane and Firmino next season (forcing them to hand in a transfer request and refusing to play for us in the process) how do you think the majority of our fans would act?

I hate Barcelona anyway. I've hated them ever since they told Mascherano to sit on the sidelines to get his move. That's one occasion. We've forced three of their players to hand in a transfer request. Stole Clyne for virtually nothing and also signed the best player they've produced in ages (Mane).

If i was them i'd hate us too. We've acted disgracefully and collectively we should be ashamed of our board for behaving in such a manner. The ire should be directed towards them, not Southampton or their fans.

They're hypocrites, like all football fans.

Over to you Jurgen.

I really don't care about excuses, about plans you had, you've had 3 months to sort out a centre back and now you've left yourself with 2 weeks.  For your sake, I hope you pull something out of your arse, but if you don't, it won't be FSG I'll be fucked off with.

This summer we've seen the following CB's change hands.  While you were sat in a puddle of overconfidence about Van Dijk:

Tolisso - £36m

Bonucci - £35m

Lindelof - £31m

Rudiger - £29m

Skriniar - £29m

Keane - £25m

Maksimovic - £22m

Ake - £20m

Sule - £19m

Brooks - £17m

Maguire - £17m

Musacchio - £15m

Ginter - £14m

Benatia - £14m

Mammana - £14m

Semedo - £12m

Kjaer - £11m

Kongolo - £11m

Riedewald - £7m

Martens Indi - £7m

Papadopoulos - £5m

Bednarek - £5m

Moreno - £5m

etc

Which of those do you reckon are considerably better than what we have?

Interesting inclusion of 'this transfer window'!

In other words those nasty bullying scousers will have to wait until January, when their season might be falling apart and he may then prefer Chelsea.

I seriously despise this pointless club, with its pointless legends, pointless city and pointless fans.

I would say these for sure. I would've taken a chance on Ake and Mammana as well.

None of them, because we have none of them.

Any of them could be better than Lovren or Matip or Klavan.  All of them.  No idea.  We will never know, but we know for sure that we're defensively fucked now.

4 goals and 1 pen conceded in two game versus Watford and Hoffenheim.

We're the laughing stock of football at the moment.

"HELP US, WE CAN'T SPEND ANY MONEY".

At least Spurs aren't deluding their supporters, they're intentionally keeping hold of the money.  Whereas out mob are like "WE NEED TO SPEND £150M ON TWO PLAYERS WITH A COMBINED 32 INTERNATIONAL CAPS AND HUGELY LIMITED CHAMPIONS LEAGUE EXPERIENCE".

"SIR, THEIR CLUBS DONT WANT TO SELL"

"INCREASE THE OFFERS BY £5M"

"BUT SIR, £5M IN THE CURRENT MARKET IS..."

"I SAID INCREASE BY £10M"

"PROBABLY STILL NOT ENOUGH SIR..."

"STATUS REPORT"

"NOT CHANGING CAPTAIN, AND WE'VE WASTED 8 WEEKS"

"HOLD..."

"HOLD..."

"STATUS REPORT"

"NOT CHANGING CAPTAIN, IN FACT, I THINK THEY MIGHT NOT EVEN SELL TO US NEXT YEAR NOW"

"KEEP HOLDING"

"STATUS REPORT"

"NO CHANGE"

"FUCK IT, PACK UP, I DIDN'T EVEN WANT THEM ANYWAY"

At a guess i'd say quite a lot of them would be better than Lovren - most of them better than Klavan and nearly all of them better than Gomez.

Sadly it looks like our recruitment team don't know either though or worse don't care.

It is criminal that we seem to be ignoring such a big problem

Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk is "not for sale", according to club chairman Ralph Krueger.

The Netherlands centre-back, 26, handed in a transfer request last week and it is understood he wanted to move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.

"Virgil is not for sale in this window - it's not personal," he said of the player that joined the club in 2015.

"It's not about him, it's about an overall much, much, much bigger picture - a change of course for Southampton."

On Monday, Chinese businessman Jisheng Gao and his family completed a deal to buy 80% of the south coast club.

Krueger suggested that the Saints wanted some stability in their squad, adding: "We want to mature, we want to be a team that can profit from synergies that create a much more attractive football and a better product for the fans, and gives us a chance to get back into Europe.

"That's one player in this whole equation of 25 and it is the visible one. But for us it's the principle and it's the path and it's the statement we need to make to get to a new space as a club.

"We are very, very adamant about carrying this through."

Van Dijk did not feature in Saturday's Premier League opener against Swansea because of a virus. Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino, who ordered the Dutchman to train alone in the summer, said before the weekend that he wants the defender to stay.

The Netherlands international been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer as well as attracting interest from Premier League champions Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, the Anfield club said they ended their interest in June after Saints said they were going to report them to the Premier League for making an alleged illegal approach.

Van Dijk signed a new six-year contract in May 2016, having joined for £13m from Celtic in September 2015.

Tolisso's a centre mid, while he'd definitely improve us I don't think he'd make a better centre back than even Lovren.

Out of that list only really Bonucci 100% without any uncertainties improved us, the rest are basically expenses punts on players who might improve us slightly, so in that regard I get why Klopp has waited for Van Dijk, now it's quite clear he's not coming now we have to move onto another player who's certain to improve us, I'm not sure who we CAN get now in this window so that one for Klopp and his transfer committee to find out.

Sule and Mammana look like in a few years they'll be a lot better than what we have now but are they right now? I don't really think so, Ake looks promising also but every time I've seen him he's played left back, Martens Indi is dyer so you might aswell have listed all the signings championship clubs have made aswell. Lindelof might end up decent I've never really seen him play but he couldn't even get on the bench the other day and has looked a liability in preseason, Ginters a full back.
