  4. Agree with all of that but the biggest thing lacking was intelligence. The way we approached that 2nd half was incredibly fucking thick. Doing the exact same shit over and over, which also happened to be exactly what Atalanta wanted us to do. I keep saying about how this team can't sort out problems on the pitch and need Klopp's half time classroom lesson to show them the way. The second half tonight was the most glaring example of it yet. Utterly clueless. The inability of even one player in this team to be able to beat their man fucked us too, but that kind of comes under what you said about bravery and movement.

  6. Out with a couple of people I work with a few weeks back, I’ve been working with them for six months at this point. Guy I speak to everyfuckingday says ‘I travelled a lot as a teenager, so saw loads of the world.’ ’Oh, really, why?’ ’My uncle was in a band, so we’d travel with him on the big tours somethimes’ ’Big tours?’ ’Yeah, with my uncle Malcom’ ’Malcom?’ ’Young, from AC/DC, do you listen to them?’ **flanberghasted** Silence for about ten minutes. Me ‘Why the fuck do you not open with that???’

  7. Regardless of its effect on us, it's always nice to see the Clampetts getting beaten. Once again Haaland has shown himself to be a big game bottler. An all English semi final would have been nice, 2 games of tactical fouls and tactical falling over but the downside would have been it meant one of the cunts getting to the final Chelsea should be bouyant after putting 6 past the bitters and, hopefully Shitty somewhat weary and deflated after last night. Extra time and pelanties please.

  11. It’s a lack of leadership on the pitch. I’m not absolving Virgil but he has led on the pitch at time this year. Since Trent got injured and Mo went to Afcon/got injured we’ve been without that real start quality, the thing that makes you believe and gets you over the line. For a couple of months the collective spirit allied with Virgil willing things to happen (league cup, Forest away etc) made up for it, then Macca carried us for a few weeks. Since then, and despite having several international captains on the pitch, Virgil and Macca have dipped (having played almost every game) and talismanic players like Mo and Trent are feeling their way back to form. 2017-2022 we had 3 or 4 players you could utterly bank on in big moments to drag us out of the fire. We have a really able squad, but Mane > Diaz, Bobby > Nunez and only Jota beats his direct competitor (Divock). Diaz and Nunez are really good players in a team that’s playing with confidence, but neither of them looks remotely like ever being the main man. They thrive off Mo being a constant threat and play in the space he makes available. If he can’t do that anymore because he doesn’t trust his body or his legs have totally gone, they’re just not going to step up consistently. They’ll do it occasionally, but 4 years ago if Mo didn’t score Bobby did, if Bobby didn’t score, Mane did - etc etc. Being philosophical, it shows how hard it is to win things consistently, unless you’re an oil state who has hired a renowned drug cheat to mange you and paid for all the refs. Just dispiriting to be riding high in March and knocked down in April, as Sinatra didn’t say.

  14. Nope, change is as good as a rest and new manager with new ideas might freshen up the team and re-invigorate the players. Klopp's 'tiredness' seems to be rubbing off on them.

  15. I honestly don't think, as a team, we're playing much "worse" than we have all season. Performances have been very average across the whole season with only a few exceptions but until recently we've been scoring goals and winning matches by small margins. So without a shadow of a doubt the forwards have let us down recently, that's what's changed.

  16. We’ve gone from… The new manager has got one of the best squads in Europe to work with… to… We’re shite and half the squad want binning off. So fair play to us for that.

  22. Guardiola was screaming at the team and giving mad instructions in the huddle before the shoot out. Must be still on the drugs. One or 2 his players look like they dabble too. Walker just back from a muscle injury and he's still sprinting full tilt after 120 minutes.

  29. Did anyone else rewind to listen to Paul's epic rant about Guardiola? I did. Twice. Magnificent rantage and exactly how we all feel. It proper made me smile though. Must be tough to get yourself up for making a pod after a result like that but as a red living in Yorkshire it's very cathartic for me, as I'm sure it is plenty of others. Always good to hear John G after a shit loss too. Nobody does sheer despondency like John can. Thanks lads. Always appreciated from all of you who participate. Oh, and Paul is ahead of Chris 1-0 in Damp Squid Game

  30. He looks like he can't pass a football, but to be honest he plays a position in this team that is brutal. That right side midfield spot is insanely taxing under Klopp and it doesn't exist in many teams.

  31. No idea why everything has been so cautious. Sarah's gilt-edged chance effectively ended this tie. He's done as a top level player, shouldn't start anymore matches and should be cashed-in on at the end of the season. The Saudis might still cough up big bucks. Hopefully.

  35. Fucking good stuff last night - not arsed one bit about the loss of the potentially damaging semi final either. Lunin bouncing the ball after catching the rat's penalty, like he'd just been handling the ball in the warmup, was a beautiful touch. Didn't want Arsenal anywhere near the semis to be honest. As much as it would be extra games for them, they look like they're a real momentum team and hopefully the disappointing home draw led to the flat performance and defeat to Villa which led to last night, and that's their wheels coming off now. We'll see. Interesting to see their April record above - maybe the shouts of "bottlers" that are heading in our direction - when we're coping with far more injuries and bullshit than Arsenal are - will have a look at that. Given their financially doped squad and playing style, the mancs would cope with the extra games so I don't think them being in the semis makes much of a difference to their league chances. I just don't want that fucking freak project anywhere near the European Cup, last year was genuinely awful so I'm just glad they're out. And one more thing - I can fucking enjoy the semis and final of the Champions League now. No desperately hoping for one particular outcome, just watch and hopefully enjoy the games (like I did with the Barcelona/PSG and Dortmund/Atleti ties).

  37. How, precisely, do you propose that we 'stop more innocents losing their lives?' Maybe you missed this, but the world tried the "give Putin the portion of Ukraine he's already conquered in order to make peace" thing in Minsk in 2014. The deal was this - Putin, you (and your proxies) get to keep Crimea and a portion of the Donbass. In exchange, both parties agree to stop shelling each other. Sounds like they "faced facts to stop more innocents from losing their lives," right? It lasted 7 months. Just enough time for Putin to reconstitute his army and launch another offensive in January 2015. Putin captured some more territory and Ukraine, desperate to "stop more innocents losing their lives," agreed to peace AGAIN. This was known as "Minsk 2," and was ratified by both parties in February 2015. Putin's proxies then declared that "the peace agreement doesn't apply to this particular piece of the frontline" and went on an assault again. Ukraine responded, not with military action but by passing a law that gave the Donbass special political status with more independence, as Putin claimed he had wanted. So Russia responded by moving in more heavy artillery and killing 430 Ukrainian soldiers. And then in March 2016 the Russian Foreign Minister announced that Russia was "not a party to the Minsk 2 agreement" and then a few years later, after a massive Russian campaign to build loyalty in Ukraine and a huge military buildup, they carried out the full-scale invasion of Feb 2022. I am utterly mystified by anyone whose response to the above facts (which no one, including the Russians, dispute) is "you know what we should do? Give Putin what he wants to 'stop innocents losing their lives.'" Giving Putin what he wants (a negotiated settlement that allows him to keep control of the Ukrainian territory he has invaded) is precisely what will lead to more innocents losing their lives, you absolute cretin.
