Hypothetical question

Actually, I would hope that our rise to pre-eminence comes around regardless of what he does or doesn't do. To be back on top while he's still there would mean that much more, as it would imply that we've finally got our act together, and while his achievements may have hurt us, they've not beaten us.

Agree, except the last bit. In my opinion, they have beaten us. They have beaten us on and off the pitch, comprehensively, in my opinion. Its all well talking about how we still lead in terms of major trophies and all that, but the truth remains that they have dominated this league for 20 years.

I don't have a problem with that though. As I have said many times, credit to them. They built their empire with focus, dedication and determination. They reaped the rewards that followed. Its now up to us to do the same.

Instead of hoping for Chelsea or Arsenal or Barcelona to beat them to make us happy, we should rebuild and make sure we will be up there, every season. Its about time we take the fight into our own hands.

Given the choice I never want them to win anything, ever. Not through bitterness, I won't enter a deep state of depression if they do win, I won't be as upset as I was at our own state during the Hodgson "era", but given a straight choice it's an easy one to make. The last time they won I was truly gutted, but only because they beat us into 2nd place, rather than because they equalled our title haul.

What's out of order is the very, very, very, miniscule minority who would have preferred us to lose to Chelsea at the end of last year, or Arsenal a few weeks back, just to stop "them" winning it, that's taking it too far. Nowt wrong with a bit of good old fashioned hate as long as it doesn't come before love for ourselves.

But there's no question of me wanting them to win it this year just to get rid of pisshead, I'm with those who'd like him to witness our resurgence from the dugout rather than the retirement home.
