1.  Labour called an Urgent Question, to address Truss's leadership failings.

2.  Mordaunt tells the House that Truss is "detained on urgent business"

3.  No 10 issue a statement that it wasn't urgent business, it was a pre-planned meeting with Graham Brady

4.  Graham Brady was in the Chamber during the Urgent Question.

 

So, Truss is a massive shithouse swerving accountability.  Either Mordaunt has lied to the House for her, or she lied to Mordaunt; either way we can rule out any real "urgent business" that prevented her being there.  The Downing Street statement confirms that it wasn't "urgent business", but they might actually have been lying about the real reason she wasn't there.

In fairness Truss is doing probably exactly what I'd do if someone had made me PM. I'd almost certainly fuck something up in the first 24 hours then when asked to come and explain, I'd change my number, stay in bed, and tell someone else to sort it. She's all of us right now.
